Barco announced commercial launch of new DP2K-P, a digital cinema projector designed specifically for post-production needs. With an expanded range of colours, high contrast, uniformity of brightness and software designed for post-production environments complying with the DCI specification, the DP2K-P is conceived as an ideal projector for the viewing rooms of post-producers. Bram Dieryckx, product manager at Barco, stressed that “users will be impressed with the improved contrast and uniformity of brightness, resulting in more detail of the image, especially in areas with low lights”. The new Barco DP2K-P projector will be integrated into the DP2K-B series, characterized by efficient light optimization, lower cost of ownership and operation, and easy to use. Integrates a 1.2-inch DLP Cinema chip” by Texas Instruments, with future option for 4K compatibility. To prevent dust from entering the chip, the projector is equipped with a patented box, hermetically sealed, that ensures brightness and contrast doesn't decrease over the years and allows the use of reusable air filters, another scoop in the industry. Thanks to its DMD improve the cooling system, thus extending its lifespan. The projector will be marketed alongside Communicator software that allows users to create and customize their look boards in both 2D and 3D.
