Architect and designer Ron Arad has conceived an audiovisual montage of 360 Curtain Call which will open its doors at the end of August at the Roundhouse in London. The installation is in the form of a curtain composed of 5.600 Silicon rods 8,1 meters high that configures a canvas of 18 meters diameter in 360 Degrees.

Ron Arad has invited his favorite artists, musicians and friends to create unique works for an installation of 360 degrees of video projection at the Roundhouse in London. With Bloomberg as the main sponsor, Blitz Communications has been commissioned to provide the technology needed to carry out this concept of the artist. The installation is in the form of a curtain composed of 5.600 Silicon rods 8,1 meters high that configures a canvas of 18 meters diameter in 360 Degrees. Screenings take place in this installation, Live performances and interactive shows with the audience. Blitz has installed twelve Barco RLM W8 projectors mounted on a circular truss above the curtain of silicon rods. Each of these projectors offers an image of 8,1 X 5 meters in high resolution, overlapping to produce a perfect visualization of 360 Grades A 13.520 by 1.920 Pixels. Media delivery and control is based on a Dataton Watchout system. While the artist's works have been created in the aforementioned resolution and are uploaded directly to the Watchout system, the installation also has twelve external HD SDI video channels as part of the program, which has an entrance of 360 Degrees of live video through six high-definition cameras. A separate control area 6 Diameter meters has been created with twelve Panasonic HD 20 Plasma Screens Series, that allows the operator to control the live content remotely. Paul Hutton, CEO of Blitz, stressed that “the first time she met Ron, that he had set up a test bench in his studio on Chalk Farm Road, He asked me if I thought it was going to work on a much larger scale and I told him that, theoretically, It could be achieved. He put his faith in us and our work to deliver a projection and content distribution system that has made his idea a reality”. Ron Arad has acknowledged that “When I thought about the design I knew it was going to be unique and different. The Roundhouse is a circular building, so the installation retains this shape. I had an idea of how I wanted the project, But the end result has far exceeded my expectations”.
