Yamaha has taken advantage of the celebration of the NAMM fair 2012 at the Anaheim Convention Center (California) to announce the global launch of three new product series: the MGP series of mixing consoles, DXR series speakers and DXS series subwoofers.

Since the 2012 mark the 40 anniversary of Yamaha's first analog console and the 25 Anniversary of its first digital console, It was a good time for the company to launch a new series of compact mixing consoles that make optimal use of both technologies.. Building on the success of MG series consoles, the MGP series consists of two models, the MGP12X and MGP16X, they offer, respectively, 12 and 16 Hybrid analogue/digital mixing channels in a very small space of, respectively, 348 mm and 447mm wide, by 495mm depth.

A standout feature of the MGP series are Yamaha's new Class A microphone preamplifiers that, together with X-pressive EQ, capture the ultimate in analog authenticity and reproduce the unique frequency characteristics of classic EQ modules. Much more than a means of adjusting a mixture, the X-pressive EQ is a powerful sound configuration tool, giving the MGP series an impressive dynamic range.

Another innovative feature is the hybrid stereo channel. Combining simple analog-style control with sophisticated digital functions, and a powerful DSP engine in the channel offers three essential functions that are basic power of both installed and live sound applications – Ducker Image, Levelleer y Estéreo. With a three-band EQ sweep half by nuanced sound control and high-performance A/D and D/A converters, Hybrid stereo channel offers unique functionality, with superior sound.

iPod or iPhone integration
State-of-the-art technology includes advanced REV-X reverb multi-effects and classic SPX digital, the latter with 16 Advanced effects with editable parameters. USB connectivity enables smart integration with iPod or iPhone, offering high quality digital playback while the device is charging. Using a free download of Apple's MGP Editor software, iPod or iPhone works as a flexible controller, giving the user more detailed control of the console's effect parameters, iPod hybrid channel and playback level settings.

In addition, Standard high-quality features include 48V phantom power, Single control compressors (with LED indicators) on every channel, A shock-resistant metal chassis, 19 integrated rack helmets″ and an internal power supply that allows it to be used worldwide.

Kazunori Kobayashi, General Manager of Yamaha's Pro Audio Division, has ensured that “this new MGP series was designed as a 'premium top-of-the-line' addition to our current MG series. For users who prefer the analog way of working, Delivers new levels of sound quality, Functionality and reliability. In addition to completing the redesign of circuits and internal analog components, we wanted the MGP series to offer more useful and flexible digital functions in order to give them a significant advantage in the wide variety of environments., especialmente en aplicaciones de eventos e instalación.

New DXR and DXS digital speakers
Following the success of the DSR series of portable active speakers, Yamaha has also launched at NAMM 2012 DXR series speakers and DXS series subwoofers. DXR Series Includes Four Full-Range Models: DXR8, DXR10, DXR12 and DXR15, complemented by DXS12 and DXS15 active subwoofers. All have a versatile and very compact design, Suitable for a wide variety of applications where excellent sound pressure levels and high definition are essential.

For the development of this new range, Yamaha has collaborated with Nexo, One of the giants in the manufacture of speakers, whose knowledge and experience as a market leader in touring sound reinforcement has ensured that the DXR and DXS series provide the ultimate in portable sound.

Each enclosure uses 1100W high-efficiency Class D amplification modules, providing an SPL of up to 133dB. Minimal distortion transducers, providing a very flat frequency response and high output, have been customized to perfectly match the properties of the amplifier, thus producing surprisingly deep bass, A clear mid-range and precise high frequencies. A universal switching power supply, brand new, ensures the DXR series is suitable for worldwide use.

Sound clarity
The DXR series is characterized by including FIR-X tuning owned by Yamaha, With it, clarity and sound image superior to those that would be achieved with conventional filters is achieved.. The dynamic multiband band D-Contour process is also used for clear sound, Powerful and consistent at all output levels. Two settings are provided, FOH/Main or Monitor, that optimizes the speaker for room sound or for applications such as a monitor.

The DXS subwoofer series includes powerful D-XSUB processing and unique DSP presets for highly flexible low-end control. Yamaha's innovative DSP also provides protection features that have proven effective on touring, and ensuring that all essential components operate at maximum power, even in prolonged periods of use.

A rugged non-resonant ABS enclosure on all models, have been designed to be perfectly suited to a wide variety of applications, from live sound to stage monitor for bands, solo musicians and DJs, for installation in shopping and public centers, in churches and schools.

DXR series is equipped with mounting points compatible with standard ring nuts, and optional U-brackets are also available for horizontal and vertical mounting. They also have a double-angle tripod mounting cup, An integrated three-channel mixing unit, Flexible input/output connectivity and cascading function. This allows DXR speakers to provide a total sound reinforcement system whether mounted independently or integrated into a mount with DSR or DXS series speakers..

Toshiaki Kamiya, Director of Engineering, Speakers & Amplifiers Group, of the Yamaha Pro Audio Division, "Collaborating with Nexo was an obvious step towards achieving maximum performance across the DXR and DXS ranges.. Close collaboration with their engineers at their state-of-the-art center contributed greatly to the amazing SPL and unprecedented reliability of these new loudspeakers.".

For its part, Kazunori Kobayashi, General Manager of the Yamaha Pro Audio Division, "By combining Yamaha's signal processing and Yamaha's acoustic and amplification technologies with Nexo's invaluable speaker design knowledge and experience,, Not only have we expanded our ranges of professional active speakers, we have also made a significant contribution to our overall portfolio of professional sound solutions.".
