The Korean company Future Robot, a company dedicated to the development of service robots technology and human-robot interaction, has designed a new robot called FURO-K that works as a friendly digital signage kiosk.

The company Future Robot has unveiled a new service robot that works as a friendly digital signage kiosk, as published by the Korean Times. The FURO-K moves around greeting customers with a synthesized voice to explain its characteristics, instead of sitting in a corner, like some of their less mobile counterparts, and his lively face even gets sad when customers leave.. The robot comes with an integrated circuit card reader and NFC, but also accepts credit card payments and paper receipts.

The company has already sold the robot to hospitals in Korea., with other buyers from France, China, Japan and Brazil, from where he has received a recent order from a hundred FURO robots. This version has an animated face with feminine features inspired by the anime drawing and can function as a waitress.. The plan is to implement robots such as mobile advertising and information kiosks in various spaces in Brazil., such as airports and shopping malls.

“The key strength of Future Robot, in my opinion, is its human-robot interaction technology that is compatible with all other robots. Like Steve Jobs it ushered in a new intelligent society with the convergence of art and technology., I hope that Future Robot will be a pioneer in the new era of robots with the convergence of robots and technology.", said the CEO of the Korean firm, Se-kyong Song, who created the partnership after working in the robotics research labs of Samsung and Philips after graduating from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
