Danish jeweller Anytime Ure & Smykker has installed a Sony video surveillance system composed of SNC-DH210 cameras, SNC-CH140, SNC-DH160, SNC-DH180 and SNC-DH160T from the Japanese manufacturer, providing great image quality and ease of use.

Anytime Ure Jewelry & Smykker, located in the Danish town of Haslev, south of Copenhagen, has four employees. Since it works with valuable merchandise, is exposed, like any other jewelry store, to suffer theft during the day and night robberies. Before installing the video surveillance system of Sony, the establishment had mishaps of both types, so they needed stable cameras that produced high-quality images.

Previously the establishment was equipped only with an analog video surveillance solution that did not meet your needs. The quality of the recording was too poor to be used during an investigation and the cameras were unreliable and often failed.. “Images could not be used, the quality was too bad. If someone stole from us we couldn't see who had done it.. In other words, we needed more stable cameras that could produce high-quality images”, comments Annette Lassen, director and owner of Anytime Ure & Smykker.

In addition to serving as evidence in the investigation of possible thefts, a proper video surveillance system also makes employees feel safer, and can prevent shoplifting and burglaries. To get the best possible coverage from the property, Anytime Ure & Smykker needed different cameras with different purposes each. To avoid theft, they needed to install in the interior and exterior of the premises a video surveillance system that was capable of handling strong contrasts of light, and provide them with detailed images of any little gems in the shop. To prevent robberies during the night they also needed a camera that covered the rear entrance, which is very poorly lit.

Sony's solution

Sony's video surveillance system was the only one recommended by installer H. Helbo Hansen. “Sony manufactures high-quality products with a low frequency of failures and is easier to install than other systems. Sony is simply the best when it comes to video surveillance”, says John Soelberg, H Project Manager. Helbo Hansen.

Anytime Ure & Smykker is very satisfied with the new video surveillance solution of the Japanese brand. The jewelry has a total of six HD and Full HD cameras placed to cover the interior, the exterior and the rear entrance of the establishment. The solution includes the SNC-DH210 cameras, SNC-CH140, SNC-DH160 and SNC-DH180, and a vandal-proof model, the SNC-DH160T. Sony's View-DR technology, that produces images with an extremely wide dynamic range, is ideal for the strong backlight of the interior. Due to poor lighting in the rear entrance area, the camera placed here is equipped with Advanced IR technology. HD and Full HD quality provide Anytime Ure & Smykker all the details you need and, In addition, all cameras have intelligent motion detection to avoid false alarms.

Impressed with the quality

The installation of Sony's video surveillance system has made a real difference for Anytime Ure & Smykker, who is very satisfied with the solution. Although the cameras have been installed for a very short time, have already appreciated several advantages. The first and most important is that they provide them with high-quality images that can actually be used in an investigation if needed.. In addition, they now have an easy-to-use system that they can even access remotely in case of nighttime theft. “The images are excellent and we are very impressed with the quality. Sony's video surveillance system is much better than the one we used previously. When someone enters the store, we can clearly see who he is”, comments Annette Lassen.

In addition, no attempted theft or robbery has been suffered since Anytime Ure & Smykker installed the new video surveillance system, which means the new cameras could have a preventative effect. “Sony's video surveillance system is much more visible than our old system, so if someone knows what video surveillance equipment looks like, you can easily see the cameras. In addition, we have placed a sign that informs that the store has video surveillance”, adds Lassen.

With the new video surveillance system there have also been fewer false alarms, which saves space on the recorder, and Annette Lassen expects fewer camera failures.

Unexpected benefits

Curiously, Sony's new video surveillance system has not only benefited Anytime Ure & Smykker. “Recently there was a stabbing right in front of the store and video surveillance cameras recorded the entire incident. We handed over the images to the police and they were very impressed by their quality. They have been able to identify and arrest the author thanks to the images. For our part, it was surprisingly easy to select the images the police needed and transfer them to a USB drive”, says Annette Lassen.

In addition, a suspicious person had previously been seen prowling the city and snooping through windows. This person was also detected by Sony cameras and the images have been saved in case of any theft in the future..
