Christie and BAF dazzled Barcelona with a mapping at Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló celebrated 10 years of cultural visits and shared with the whole city of Barcelona a surprising and vibrant audiovisual show -elaborated by the company BAF with the help of four Christie Roadster S+20K projectors-, that revealed all the symbologies and interpretations that inspired the great architect Antoni Gaudí when creating such an exceptional façade.

La Casa Batlló, masterpiece by Antoni Gaudí and World Heritage by Unesco since the year 2005, wanted to celebrate his 10 years of cultural visits with a surprising 3D audiovisual mapping on its façade, made thanks to four projectors Christie Roadster S+20K DLP technology 3 Chips. Projections, of an approximate duration of 20 minutes, could live for two nights in three passes with the presence of the comedian and presenter Andreu Buenafuente.

With the title of 'The Awakening of Casa Batlló', assembly, that has been produced by the studio NineOjos and made by the company BAF, has given life to all the symbologies and interpretations that inspired Gaudí to create such an exceptional façade. The dragon of Sant Jordi, carnival masks, harlequins, mouths that yawn or sing, Skeletons, Monet water lilies, bats and other creatures of the night woke up from their centennial lethargy in an exciting and surprising audiovisual show that allowed the more than 8000 people who attended each day to see the show.

In order to carry out this project, more than 10 months of work. During these months, an arduous task of image selection and collection was carried out, as well as the elaboration of scripts for the different sequences that served to document the different legends and symbologies that would be revealed during the mapping.

The four Christie Roadster S+20K (SXGA+ resolution, 20000 ANSI lumens) stakes were used in pairs on a layer tower of 12 meters high and a 37 meters of the projection surface, which had a total of 15 X 32 metre. The resolution was 1400 X 1940 and there was a media server to launch the contents and for geometries and blending, as well as with a production PC to program the contents. ChristieNET was also used for the alignment and calibration of the projector blending..
