Sting DPA dfacto

Sting has used four handheld vocal microphones d:Fact of DPA Microphones on their recent 'Back to Bass' tour, with which he has toured throughout Europe and the Far East. The FOH engineer of the former The Police vocalist, Howard Page, has highlighted: “The definition and clarity of the d: Facto have been a great update in our concerts and have worked just as well for the 'in-ear monitors'’ that Sting listened to. This is an absolutely unique microphone that has an incredible transient response and just the right amount of proximity without the normal problems of tonal on/off differences.”

A Page, Clair Brothers Director of Engineering, He recommended the D vocal microphones:DPA recording engineer Donal Hodgson, that he had been using them to record Sting in the studio.. “Donal knew I had been looking for a state-of-the-art microphone for Sting's live concerts.. If Donal was happy with him in the demanding environment of a recording studio, I knew I would also be satisfied.”, has indicated Page.

Sting's long-standing professional relationship with Howard Page means the singer was also happy to try out the microphone.: facto in a real environment. “Sting and I have a very good relationship and he trusts me in everything that has to do with sound., So when I asked him to try the: Facto, He was more than willing to do it.”, add Page.

Four d were ordered: facts to DPA's distributor in the UK, Sound Network, which sent them to Clair's European office for inclusion in the tour team. Sting has two touring systems 'A’ and 'B’ Simultaneous, each with two d:Facts, one as the main microphone and one for the back up. “We have done concerts in France, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Lebanon, Korea, Hong Kong, Manila, Bangkok and Jakarta, So it was a huge amount of displacement.. In this last leg of the tour I have been in some places with really long reverb times and the:facto has worked perfectly without losing the natural, tight full tone I need for Sting's voice”, Page concludes.
