XL Video has supplied more than 46.000 FLX-24 LED modules ship, HD cameras Grass Valley, D3 control software, IMAG screens Pixled and the technical staff that is needed to perform the show Take the Crown Stadium. Under this title, British singer Robbie Williams is taking a tour of Europe that began 14 June in Dublin and will end, after 26 Recitals, the 25 August in Stavanger (Norway).

The staging features a later video wall projecting a large map depicting Williams' head and two large IMAG screens located on either side of it. The rear video wall has dimensions of 12,6 meters high by 7,5 meters wide.

The bust of the British singer presides over each of the concerts of his tour of Europe and for his creation proceeded to scan his face and model it in 3D, making a complete mapping of each of the pixels.

This video, that grabs the central attention of staging, has been equipped with 46.000 FLX pixel video 24 Barco, the same ones that were used in the 360 Tour de U2. These have been integrated by TAIT, firm responsible for designing and building the head.

FLX LED pixel modules are ideal for this type of project as they, being transformable, allow them to be given the shape they want and can be integrated into a wide variety of structures. The fiberglass part set has a solid gold-finished finish, similar to the back video wall.

The pixels of the head were drawn manually using Maya software for the mapping process that was completed by United Visual Artists (grape), process that knew about two months of intense work.

For IMAG side screens, XL Video supplies two ultralight PIXled F-11 LED displays, each with dimensions of 8,1 meters high by 5,4 meters wide.

The content displayed on these huge screens is supplied by images collected by the eight Grass Valley LDK cameras 8000 which has also supplied XL Video.

Two mobile teams cover what happens from the two climb ramps to the stage, while two others follow the show from the front. And on both sides of the stage are located two fixed cameras. The last two, with long-range lenses, are installed in the FOH. The equipment is completed with an additional remote Bradley and a CamBall2 on the battery.

All images are inserted into the Kayak GV mixer. After this production is carried out and sent to the side screens.

challenge: coordination

The main challenge in such events lies in the coordination of all teams. On this tour, the video team integrates it 13 limbs, ten of XL Video and three from TAIT.

As for infrastructure, seven trucks are needed to transport all video systems and an eighth moves cameras and side screens.
