Guinness World Record has recognized the DP2K-32B Boat as the brightest digital projector on the planet. With a measured brightness of more than 43.000 Lumens in Calibration Mode, the Barco DP2K-32B is capable of perfectly projecting 3D content, even on the biggest screens offering a new visual experience. The test for the record was successfully carried out at Barco's facility in Kuurne (Belgium) yesterday, 1 December 2010 at 14:00 local time. Witnessed and verified by the technician displaced by the Guinness Book of Records, Kaoru Ishikawa, a Barco DP2K-32B digital cinema projector achieved an exact brightness of 43.000 lumens after color correction to match the DCI color spectrum, measured in the center of a 4 m2 at a distance of 5 Projector Meters. Wim Buyens, Vice President of Barco, has commented after obtaining this record that “The brightness of a projector is a crucial element for viewers to perceive a captivating and immersive cinema experience. This is especially true in the case of 3D movies, that require a lot of brightness. This makes it very difficult to efficiently project 3D content onto larger screens, where only ultra-bright projectors can guarantee an optimal viewing experience. In this sense, This world record is more than just a technological achievement: it's a response to one of the biggest challenges facing 3D digital cinema”. The model used for the record attempt was an off-the-shelf Barco DP2K-32B, Equipped with a standard lamp 7 kW Ushio. To ensure that gloss levels don't diminish over the years, They feature a fully sealed light generator to prevent dust from dirtying it.
