The fashion firm Chanel has its own line of watches and now offers the possibility of using augmented reality technology that allows you to try on your new collection of J12 watches through a new application for iPad and iPhone.

blankFrench fashion brand Chanel is boosting its J2 watch collection through a new app for iPad and iPhone. The app displays the details of the J12 collection including details of the Marine, Rétrograde Mystérieuse and the Crhomatic, and allows the consumer to test the watches virtually using an augmented reality feature. This app is available at no cost on the Apple App Store.

Rick Singer, president of GreatApps.com, commented that "Chanel's strategy is to use apps as a way to attract additional attention to their product, because many people do not know that Chanel manufactures watches. Having an app for the J12 collection serves to keep you in the limelight, since most luxury companies now have apps".

The application
The app's home page displays all three watch models, each with its own section. Sections show the collections in giant images that fill the screen and include a boutique search engine, an individual video of the model, a watch to see the movement of the hands and the possibility of sharing it with friends via email or social networks. additionally, iPhone users can use augmented reality feature to test watches virtually.

An important aspect of the Chanel J12 app is the amount of information it offers consumers. As they will surely spend thousands of dollars on these watches, consumers appreciate knowing each of the reasons why their products are so expensive. In addition, if Chanel wants to keep its place in the world of watches, an application like this is very necessary since its competitors already have this type of additions.

Rick Singer added: "It's a great idea for Chanel to have an app for this collection., as it is competing in the same space with major watch manufacturers such as Rolex, Cartier, Piaget and Chopard, just to mention a few. The more people know that Chanel makes watches, more will increase brand awareness in this space".
