The company of Municipal Waters of Alicante opens the universe of H2O through the rooms of the remodeled Water Museum located in the Wells of Garrigós, A space that has been renovated with the aim of redistributing the contents to offer a more intuitive and guided visit through the signage of the rooms, as well as expand its informative and educational offer.

The Mayor of Alicante, Sonia Castedo, and the general director of Aguas de Alicante, Asuncion Martinez, have inaugurated the restoration works of the Water Museum. Some actions that seek to enhance the attractiveness of this cultural and didactic field that, since its inauguration in February 2009, coinciding with the 110 anniversary of the constitution of Aguas de Alicante, has been visited by 42.000 people.

The works, financed by the water supply company, bring together the work of more than 20 Professional, belonging to local suppliers, who have collaborated in the remodeling of this space to offer visitors a distribution of content with greater attractiveness, that allows to expand the existing educational and informative offer.

In order to increase the quality of audiovisual projections, the windows of the Museum have been darkened with an opaque vinyl that on its outer face shows the new image of the M2A. The same, the interior of the Wells of Garrigós has been illuminated by LEDs that create the effect of water bubbles, in which the visitor has the impression of immersing himself. A locution explains the history and purpose for which these cisterns were built.

The contents have been redistributed to offer a more intuitive and guided visit through the signage of the rooms. The Water Museum has three floors. The ground floor has been called the 'History of Water in Alicante'. It includes the origins and settlements of the first settlers of Alicante, with the exhibition of objects and tools from different eras that allow the visitor to know the evolution of the techniques and uses of water through different cultures. A new space is added on this floor, designed in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, on the importance of wetlands in the province of Alicante. On the wall at the back of the room an audiovisual projection of the artist Pep Bou visually reproduces forms acquired by water: Bubbles, Flowers of the Air, impossible waves...

'Have fun with the Water’ is the name given to the first floor, which has been allocated entirely to educational resources with water as a basis: interactive games, Giant models, new technologies such as Augmented Reality, Etc. A mural of more than six meters high presides over the room. Through an illustration, Visitors can learn how water pipes run through the spaces of our homes. On this floor a cinema room has been enabled, in which appropriate content will be projected to different audiences such as “Gotagotham”, “The paths of water” or “World Water Day”.

The second floor, 'Projects and Environment', explains to the visitor the technology and infrastructures of the new projects planned and carried out by Aguas de Alicante in the last three years: Remote reading, Cowama, Sludge recovery, San Gabriel Anti-Pollution Depot, Inspection Truck… The environmental zone reflects contents of respect and sustainability with the environment related to the integral water cycle, respect for existing purification areas and the green belt.
