Planar Systems It has reached an agreement to acquire the company's optical motion capture and tracking solutions NaturalPoint for 125 million dollars. The transaction is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter or early in the first quarter of 2017. NaturalPoint will continue to operate as an independent company with its own management team, customers and market strategy.
The acquisition will merge complementary technologies augmented reality and virtual, and increase the presence in areas such as tracking drones, movement science, sports performance, and immersive entertainment applications in Cave (Cave Assisted Virtual Environment) environments.
NaturalPoint is the creator of the OptiTrack, TrackIR and SmartNav brands. Its headquarters is located in Oregon, close to where the Planar, location will facilitate the work with suppliers and enable better serve its customers.
