The footwear and sportswear firm Nike has opted to use augmented reality in its store in Paris, located on the Avenue des Champs-Elysées. The French company SmartPixels has been the company in charge of installing in this establishment two projection devices from which it is possible to customize, in real time, the size and color of the shoes of the AirMax models, LunarEpic Low and Cortez.

Customers perform this process from a tablet that is connected to the service of the company NikeiD, placing the shoe on the support that has been arranged so that the product is detected and that the simulation is started.

When no one is using these devices, the system enters a demonstration mode in which the different combinations of textures and colors of the shoes are seen.

Customizing products in a store is not something new, but it is the fact that augmented reality is used to carry out this interactive experience. An initiative that has been carried out thanks to the patent that Nike registered a year ago for a technology that allows users, using augmented reality glasses, design your shoes with a virtual pen.
