The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Santander and Cantabria (BUT) has implemented QR codes in 10 of the works of art he exhibits, thanks to which visitors will obtain information through their smartphone or tablet “more complete and detailed” of each work.

The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Santander and Cantabria (BUT) has begun to implement QR codes or speed reading systems accompanying each of the works of art exhibited by this gallery. The Councilor for Culture of the City of Santander, Cesar Torrellas, has linked the implementation of this system “as one more element of Innovation among the many that the Santander City Council is carrying out in different areas”.

It is a state-of-the-art computer application for reading through the camera of smartphones or tablets, that allows the user to obtain additional information about the funds exhibited in the museum. “Through this system, The screens of mobile devices become an informative support that helps to better understand each work, or the artist's career, among other aspects”, Torrellas said.

In this first phase, MAS has installed 10 Reading codes along with others 10 Works from the temporary collections. “A number that will increase since the goal is that all the works of the permanent collection have their own QR in a couple of weeks”, as Torrellas has advanced.
