VIA Technologies, manufacturer of energy-efficient x86 processor platforms, has presented the ultracompact system AMOS-3002, that promises to withstand extreme temperatures, shocks and vibrations in telematics, digital signage, Kiosks, vehicle control, machine-to-machine controllers and various other embedded scenarios.

VIA Technologies has launched the VIA AMOS-3002, an ultra-compact fanless system designed from the tiny Pico-ITX VIA EPIA-P900 plate. The VIA AMOS-3002 provides embedded customers with a system that offers the latest digital media functionalities and standards required for a wide range of embedded applications including telematics, in-vehicle control, machine-to-machine controller (M2M), digital signage and kiosks.

Harnessing the digital potential of the combination of the 1.0GHz VIA EdenTM X2 dual-core processor and media system processor (MSP) VIA VX900H on via epia-p900 board, the VIA AMOS-3002 offers a powerful industrial class PC, robust and HD-ready that brings together all the benefits of HD computing 64 high-performance bits in an ultra-compact system. The via VX900H all-in-one, highly integrated, provides relentless hardware acceleration of the most demanding codecs, including MPEG-2, WMV9 and H.264 in resolutions up to 1080p via the latest display connectivity standards, including native HDMI support for next-generation multimedia-intensive applications.

Epan Wu, Director of the Embedded Platform Division at VIA Technologies, Reviewed: "The VIA AMOS-3002 advances the AMOS series of ultra-compact systems, providing fanless dual-core computing and advanced multimedia capabilities. The superior versatility and compact and reliable design of the VIA AMOS-3002 makes it ideal for a diverse range of embedded applications.".

VIA AMOS-3002

The VIA AMOS-3002 is specifically designed to support the Pico-ITX VIA EPIA P900 board that combines a 1.0GHz EdenTM X2 processor and the MSP VIA VX900H to operate completely fanless with a robust chassis measuring 19.7cm x 10.4cm x 4.9cm. The VIA AMOS-3002 has a certified operating temperature of between -20ºC to 60ºC, vibration tolerance up to 5g and shock tolerance up to 50G. The VIA AMOS-3002 is also available with the VIA EPIA-P830 which produces a Nano E-Series processor at 1.0GHz offering an operating temperature of between -20ºC and 70ºC.

Storage is provided through a Cfast slot for a SATA interface Flash drive while an optional storage subsystem expansion chassis offers support for a standard 2.5"' SATA drive. Full I/O features on front and rear panels include two COM ports, six USB ports 2.0, including two of which are lockable for increased force, line input and output, one DIO port, one VGA and one HDMI port for display connectivity and two GLAN ports for Gigabit networking. Optional 3G Network and Wi-Fi are available through a MiniPCIe expansion slot.
