After four years of work, the Planetarium of Planetarium of Bogotá will reopen its doors with a dome with Nanoseam technology and a PowerDome digital projection system.

The Planetarium of Bogotá has just reopened its doors after a deep remodeling. Among other actions, a new dome has been built with Nanoseam technology that allows creating a seamless surface (is the fifth screen in the world with these features) and a new PowerDome digital projection system has been installed Carl Zeiss, specially created for the exhibition of large format films.

The work of updating the Planetarium began in 2008 with the purchase and commissioning of the PowerDome digital projection system. This was the first phase of five stages that will conclude the next 21 march with a reopening party.

in 2009 and 2010 the second phase was advanced with the adaptation of the astronomical projection room that included the installation of a state-of-the-art microperforated screen, thermoacoustic insulation, reclining silletería, modern sound and lighting systems, renovation of flats, design and assembly of the museographic script of the Space Museum, as well as the technical and architectural diagnosis of the building.

In May 2011 the third phase began with the design of the integral project (architectural, technical and structural), the structuring of the scheme for the management and operation of the Planetarium, the study of the titles of the property, the diagnosis of the auditorium, the design of the general signage, y las obras del reforzamiento estructural e impermeabilización de la cúpula.

At the end of 2011 began the fourth phase with the execution of the architectural and technical works of the building, i.e. civil works, change of electrical networks, hydrosanitary and lighting, as well as the installation of the fire and safety network.
