The city of Barcelona already has in operation eight new 'smartquesinas' located in Passeig de Gràcia bus stops, as part of the rehabilitation works of this emblematic Avenue of the city, offering interactive services to the citizens.
New furniture urban intelligent one of the bus stops from the famous Paseo de Gracia (Passeig de Gracia) of Barcelona, called 'smartquesinas', are part of the project of the City Council of this city in its transformation into a smart city, together with Transportes Metropolitanos de Barcelona)TMB) to offer applications of interactive public service to the citizens.
In total, have been launched in eight new 'smartquesinas' that are added to the installed by Barcelona City Council a year ago at the confluence of the Paseo de Gracia with CASP Street, as part of the works that are done on this busy road of the city and the introduction of smart technologies to deliver new services to the citizen.
According to the statement from City Hall, the cost of the eight 'smartquesinas' has been 560,000 euros, according to the presented design by SmartCitiesLAB, the laboratory of ideas created by a group of companies from different sectors, such as Admire, Ficosa, Intel, JCDecaux Y Telefónica.
Each 'smartquesina' features a large touch display of JCDecaux in which municipal public service and TMB applications have been integrated through Barcelona Contactless, with technology of NFC and QR codes for download on mobile devices; another screen to display dynamic digital advertising businesses in the area; free WiFi connection through the BarcelonaWiFi service and mobile via USB charger.
Interactive screens located in the bus shelters work 24 × 7 and offer the citizen the possibility to consult and obtain up-to-date information in real time with applications such as Prop d' here, with the closest points of interest of the city to each stop; Virtual TMB, to plan public transport routes and calculate the time of waiting for each bus.
Other integrated applications is that of Bicing, that allows to visualize the provision and availability of bicycles for more than four hundred stations of the city in real time and calculation of routes; BCN tourism, with a complete guide of tourist offer of the city, and urban landscape, monuments and unique places of Barcelona.
As it secures the consistory of this city in its press release, "Paseo de Gracia becomes the first major urban transformation where the Barcelona City Council has applied the criteria set out in the Plan Director of ICT, which should be allowed to order the" deployment of 'smart' infrastructure to all urban projects to manage the needs of people and the city efficient and intelligently".
Another of the innovations that have been incorporated in this intelligent and interactive furniture is information of the Association Friends of the Paseo de Gracia (Passeig de Gracia friends), a directory of stores located in this way.
In terms of connectivity is concerned, within the 'smartquesina', the user has free municipal WiFi access, for which access points have been installed in all the way and in the asphalt sensors connected through this network. Next to the display are integrated connectors for various USB ports that allow you to charge your mobile device.
