Allen & Heath has optimized the performance and ecosystem of the Qu series compact digital mixers. Accompanying the release of firmware v1.9 has added new updates for the Qu-Pad app, microphonic presets, simplified DAW control for Windows plus a new app for installation applications.

Allen and Healt firmware v1.9

Qu-Pad v1.9 has become the most powerful iPad app in its class, implementing each setting, parameter and control of Qu mixers. In addition to the control of live mixing functions, accused, addressing and effects, Qu-Pad offers full access to scene management, control of 15 Mixer softkeys in all Qu series mixers, AMM, I/O settings and stereo and multitrack recording/playback over Qu-Drive. Also new in the app is the ability to set permissions with password-protected user profiles.

Allen & Heath, whose products it markets Lexon Distribution, has collaborated with two major microphone manufacturers, Shure and Sennheiser, to provide a library of channel presets for a large number of popular microphones considered industry standards. Presets offer the user a starting point to get the best possible sound from the microphone/mixer combination.

Allen&Heath Qu ChromeQu series mixers now have a new add-on that further facilitates their ability to control. Qu-Control is a customizable app for iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad. Offers five screens with up to 15 Control widgets each and allows control of parameters such as source selection for ambient music, primary zone level, scene recovery or microphone control.

Password protection prevents unwanted access to controls, which makes it the ideal solution for wireless control in enclosures, conference rooms, hotel lobbies and other fixed sound installations.

Allen&Heath Qu24 ChromeThe DAW control driver, so far only available for Mac, will soon be available for Windows as well. A driver that allows easy integration of the Qu mixer into the studio environment, emulating the popular HUI and Mackie control protocols, allowing you to control different DAWs, as Cubase, Sonar and Pro Tools.

Version V1.9 of the Qu firmware also adds support for the recently announced Qu-SB compact intelligent interface/mixer, designed as an intelligent stage box that offers an optimal solution for bands, concert halls, model studies, schools and corporate events that need a professional mixer to mix/record live, in a small space.

"Qu V1.9 diversifies the range of control options and the updated Qu-Pad app opens a new dimension of mixing through tablet, fully functional. Allen & Heath has responded to customer demands, providing the best service to its users and keeping the Qu at the forefront of compact digital mixers", says Nicola Beretta, company product manager.
