"It's like buying a car." This is probably the most common comparison to describe the process of selection of the projector more suited to our classroom, Auditorium, meeting room, or place of worship. Typically, that we have a price limit, know well what we need 'vehicle' and know the existence of a few brands that investigate. The problem arises when you start to sift through the various features and options to find the most suitable car model.
The choice of a display technology poses a similar mental process, and the most useful in our quest for the ideal projector will be sticking to our priorities - to the truly essential for us - and make them to guide us through the process of selection. It is normal to be 1DLP, 3DLP, and 3LCD technology platforms of creation of image that we go to step. All of them have their role and sometimes more than one could adapt to our needs.
Some manufacturers of display technologies promote specific, a technology platform or a type of headlamp ignoring others. Evaluating screening technology, the cost is cited, almost without exception, among the top priorities. That being said, it should not be more than a starting point from which to start to refine your search.
It is not the most difficult aspect. Whatever our budget, always there is a projector that fits to it. Market relies on solutions 3LCD and 1DLP good value for money and features and similar benefits. Purchase price, 3DLP solutions tend to move to the top of the scale, since it is a technology designed for high performance, a few visual of larger scale and more complex environments.
The challenge will be to the projector that meets all what we are looking for without spending more than necessary on extras, or without having to stick to a budget so that you force us to make sacrifices.
To reflect in depth on the issue of the price we will have to also address the aspect of the total cost of ownership, so that we have a more accurate view of the investment that we're about to Board. And as soon as we start to consider factors such as efficiency in performance, the times of maintenance or the cost of consumables such as lamps or filters elements, the cost debate will expand its spectrum.
As regards prices, the 3LCD continues to be one of the most affordable screening technologies. That said, although we often noticed that 3LCD designs provide more lumens per watt than other technologies, have appeared new solutions 1DLP and 3DLP very competitive in that regard.
If what we need is a projector switched on for long periods of time or operating in complex environments with 24 × 7 operation, the 1DLP will be, in the long run, more economical to operate and maintain.
1DLP projectors tend to include sealed optics that reduce the presence of dust or fog in the focal plane and minimize the costs of the maintenance necessary to ensure the life of the projector. Likewise, 1DLP projectors have less digital micromirror (DMD) devices to the 3DLP, which, as we shall see, contributes to lowering the cost of the 1DLP projection.
Another factor to be considered in our investment in projection is based on phosphorus laser lighting. Represents the Summit of the 1DLP projection, as it combines the evenness and solidity of DLP technology and longevity of the laser lighting. Match laser ensures more than 20,000 hours of reliable operation without consumable items replaced during the life of the projector.
The quality, the reliability and the brightness that provide, 3DLP projectors are more expensive than the 3LCD or 1DLP. Reviewing technology 3DLP light source options, we must adjust the lighting to our specific needs. Thus we will reduce the price, both at the time of purchase and in the long run. From least to greatest, the scale of costs is as follows: Mercury, xenon, match laser and RGB laser.
Let us take an example: we could need a projector 3DLP by his solid performance on large scale displays, but not the life which provides match laser, or the chromatic realism of xenon. In that case, the best choice would be mercury lamps, which will help us to maintain a low initial cost without sacrificing our objectives of projection thereby.
Any serious debate about the quality of the image must include, in addition to the resolution, contrast and stability, color, brightness, tone and saturation. Instead of analyzing all attributes by putting them in relation to each of the categories of screening, we look at the most relevant aspects for each of them.

Similarly, thanks to the technology of liquid crystal on which it is based, completely opposite of the wheel of color moving and reflective surfaces, the 3LCD projection does not generate artifacts from images or fluctuations to project content in color or video. The result is an extraordinary stability of the image. Another distinctive feature of the 3LCD projectors is its high contrast, quality to consider when we want a projector to compensate excess ambient lighting may affect the visibility of the contents of a screen in a meeting room, classroom or similar spaces.

The saturation is another factor to consider when analyzing the quality of the 1DLP projection image. On 1DLP platforms, color saturation is given by Dichroism and light source. For example, if we use the laser as a source of lighting match we will get an excellent colour saturation that could also help to reinforce the perception of brightness.
The platform 1DLP offers two advantages. Firstly, having a single chip, will prevent us convergence errors, giving us the peace of mind that the projected image will remain clear and crisp and without separation of color with the passage of time.
Secondly, the projection 1DLP saves us effects 'ghost' and 'burning' that occur when after showing a static image over a long period of time, leave in the following picture a light visual trace.
Returning to the example of the car, the 3DLP would represent many horse power sports vehicle. We need it or not will depend on the application that we are going to spend.

Cuando contemplamos una gigantesca pieza de arte en movimiento proyectada sobre la fachada de un edificio o imágenes 3D de gran realismo envolviendo lienzos de proyección inusuales en eventos en vivo o en megaconferencias, es muy probable que nos encontremos ante una proyección 3DLP.
La proyección 3DLP permite disfrutar de opciones de resolución que van desde XGA (1.024×768) a 4K (4.096×2.160), pero también de alternativas en cuanto a la fuente de luz o la velocidad de imagen.
Por lo que respecta al brillo, el tono y la saturación, no hay nada como el 3DLP, que no precisa de rueda de color ya que los colores se separan en un prisma óptico mediante unas capas dicroicas de alto grado, capaces de conseguir la gama de color más amplia y la reproducción cromática más pura.
Más allá de su asequibilidad y de su capacidad para generar imágenes brillantes, el rendimiento de una tecnología de proyección se evalúa también por lo fiable que pueda resultar en entornos difíciles, y por su capacidad para hacer blending y warping de contenidos y proyectar en 3D. No obstante, el entorno y el uso serán lo que en última instancia determinen el rendimiento de esos factores.
Por ejemplo, la proyección 3LCD resulta excelente en espacios de interior que requieran imágenes estables y brillantes, y donde el proyector vaya a utilizarse durante periodos relativamente más breves. Esa es la razón por la que salas de juntas, pequeñas salas de reuniones, aulas o salas de lectura estén a menudo equipadas, con éxito, con tecnología de imagen 3LCD.
