From the 5 to the 9 October, twelve locations in five neighborhoods in the capital and twenty-four video art facilities set up as diptychs, Projections, Channel, Etc. make up the selection of audiovisual works by artists from thirteen nationals, what workshops and workshops add up to.

The ninth edition of Festival Projector starts tomorrow, 5 October, and until the next day 9 in Madrid to show innovative experiences in video art, audiovisual works by artists of thirteen nationalities, spread across five neighborhoods (Cuts, Lavapiés, Orchards, Delights and Legazpi-Usera) and twelve locations.

The programming of this audiovisual art festival includes, in addition to the fixed exhibitions at the venues, interactive installations, two master classes, a workshop, professional meetings, meetings with participating artists and a projection of the best of fourteen international video art festivals.

Artists selected by the international jury will show a personal and committed view of artists with the world and society around them. "They are an opportunity to learn about the different techniques and technologies that are being used today to make video you", organizers have pointed out in a statement.

Medialab Prado Metatopia 2015Among the works is a piece premiered at the 'Sundance' festival, that portrays a night bus line turned into a shelter for the homeless of the American Elizabeth Lo; Italian Federico Sposato's gender videoperformance; the vision of the death penalty through the last meal of the convicted of Spaniard Victor Ripoll; the visual journey through Hong Kong by Argentine artist Sebastian Tedesco … and up to twenty-four different works that use video as a channel of creation, communication and criticism.

projector 2016 it also counts on the return to video art, after fifty years, National Fine Arts Award 2007 and Velázquez Prize for Fine Arts 2015, Isidoro Valcárcel Medina at casa Museo Lope de Vega. Your installation 'Varied Programming'’ talks about expectation, illusion and emptiness.

Medialab Prado FacadeFor its part, French artist Samuel Bianchini will exhibit a digital work on the facade of Medialab Prado (of the 7 October, from the 21:00H); "a living piece representing a hand that fluctuates according to the stock market", as described.

In addition, Josu Rekalde, artist and professor at the University of the Basque Country, create an interactive closed-circuit installation where the public participates talking in front of a microphone that triggers a series of events in which the screening time is altered.

In terms of training and workshops, creative programmer and interactive designer Oussama Mubarak will teach for three mornings the workshop 'From spectator to actor: design for collective participation with smartphones'; and Federico Daza, multimedia artist, Bogota audiovisual filmmaker and cultural manager, will guide the master class 'The Machines of Time and the Language of Live Video-Narration', and Josu Rekalde will offer his class 'How to make interactive art with a chocolate tablet'.

All activities, free assistance form, will take place 5 to the 7 October at the El Aguila Hall in Madrid, and are supported by the Directorate General for Cultural Promotion of the Community of Madrid.

The Eagle Room will also host the day 8, at 11:00H, three professional meetings where the current situation of the video art sector will be discussed, aimed at collectors, Artists, teachers and other cultural agents involved in the production, distribution, sale, exhibition and education of video art.

In addition, projector 2016 will bring to Madrid different curators from fourteen international festivals that are part of its network and collaborate with it through the exchange of content.
