Eighteen Sound iD transducers with IPAL

The Italian speaker specialist Eighteen Sound has designed its new iD Series of transducers adapted to Differential Pressure Control (DPC) of Powersoft, core technology of the innovative IPAL (Integrated powered adaptive loudspeaker).

To implement this technology, Eighteen Sound has adopted Powersoft's amplifier hardware module, IpalMod, that overcomes the limitations of traditional transducers by producing optimal output at low frequencies. This is achieved by presenting zero-latency pressure sensor feedback., applying real-time correction to maximize transducers 18 and 21 Eighteen Sound's high-efficiency inches.

Powersoft IPAL provides a dedicated low-frequency system that integrates an amplifier module in high-performance, high-power switching mode 8,5 Kw (IpalMod) together with ultra-high motorforce electrodynamic transducers, Eighteen Sound 18iD and 21iD speakers.

"Powersoft's IPAL technology enables system designers to accomplish a seemingly impossible mission. The operation of the transducers and the amplifier module, enhanced by the equally striking integration of each component via IPAL's real-time feedback control, It creates an amazing sound", explains Giacomo Previ, Director of Sales and Marketing for Eighteen Sound.

Both IPAL-compliant transducers have a nominal impedance of 2 Ohms. For complete integration with the IPAL system, and optimize operation, a pair of each model must be connected in parallel combined with an IpalMod amplifier module.

"Eighteen Sound is the second driver company to invest in our patented technology.. iPAL-based speaker/amplifier systems deliver unprecedented acoustic performance and complete control of system sound reproduction. IPAL and IpalMod bring many benefits, improving electroacoustic efficiency in terms of high SPL and sonic performance. In addition, IPAL system ensures consistent transducer performance throughout its lifecycle and compensates for transducer differentials in each subwoofer application.", comments Francesco Fanicchi, Director of Brand and Communications at Powersoft
