The latest edition of the Mobile World Congress)MWC() closed its doors on March 2), with a record of 108,000 from attendees of 208 countries, representing an increase of 7% over the 2016.
According to data provided by the organizing entity GSMA, in collaboration with Fira de Barcelonamore than 55% of attendees at MWC 2017 have been senior executives (6,100 were CEOs) and 23% were women, a figure that has increased by 14% over the previous year. In addition, attended this year 3,500 media and industry analysts.
On the other hand, the GSMA estimates that the economic impact of this event has meant more than 465 million euros and has created 13.200 temporary jobs.
The exhibition received more than 2,300 exhibitors from both the mobility environment and adjacent automotive, finance and health industries. This year was also a record in regards to Government delegations with an increase of 14%: 167 countries and a total of 1,700 attendees. The program focused on maximizing the socio-economic impact of mobile telephony in the world and the creation of a policy environment that fosters investment and innovation.

Coinciding with the Congress on this issue have taken place for the first time the Youth Mobile Festival (YoMo), that drive the GSMA and the Mobile World Capital Barcelonaa new appointment that he concentrates in the Montjuïc Exhibition Centre to 16,000 children aged 10 to 16 from throughout Spain. Also held the fourth edition of the 4 Years From Now)4YFN), dedicated to entrepreneurship in mobile technologies, which this year attracted approximately 19,000 attendees, with an increase of 60% compared with the edition of 2016.
The main exhibition held in Fira Gran Via with an area of 115,000 square meters, while the 4YFN and Yomo events occupied 50,000 square meters in the enclosure of Fira de Montjuic. A novelty that has been launched this year has been the Nextech exhibition, which was held in the Hall 8 and showed the innovative virtual reality technologies and increases, robotics, cognitive computing and artificial intelligence.
The next edition of the Mobile World Congress will be held in Barcelona between February 26 and March 1, 2018.
