The market analyst places this multinational, for twenty-two consecutive quarters, at the top of the ranking, and estimates that the global market of digital signage will continue to grow at rates of 10 and 12% year after year in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

The global digital signage market recorded shipments of more than 870.000 units in the second quarter of 2018 (2Q18), this means an increase in the 10% compared to the first quarter of this year, and 15,9% annual, according to the data of the investigation of IDC Worldwide Quarterly Digital Signage Tracker.

"The fastest growing regions in digital signage are Latin America and Asia / Pacific (excluding Japan), with sequential rates of increase of the 135,6% and the 21,9% in the second quarter of 2018", has pointed out Maura Fitzgerald, senior research analyst at Worldwide Display Trackers.

The consultant anticipates that they will be sent 3,5 millions of units of digital signage in the present 2018, with a year-on-year growth of 11,9% in global shipments during the second quarter of 2019. For the year 2020, the estimates are at 4,4 million units, as more companies continue to adopt this display technology for advertising and general information purposes.

– While 1,920×1.080p is still the most common screen resolution, the one with the fastest annual growth is 3,840×2.160Q. In 2Q18, shipments with this last resolution grew a 396,9% year by year, which is a promising development for the digital signage market.

– Of the ten largest screen sizes, those of 32 and 43 inches recorded in 2Q18 the fastest growth year after year, with earnings of the 44,1 and 107,3%, respectively.

– Digital signage displays with TV tuners grew a 11,1% annually and captured a market share of the 12,8% in the second quarter of this year. Both Samsung and Sharp lead this space, with a combined market share of 86,6% in 2Q18.

Samsung remained in the top position in 2Q18, thus adding twenty-two consecutive quarters, with a share of the world market of the 33,9%, with close to 300.000 units. This manufacturer recorded strong year-on-year growth in Canada (40,5%) and Latin America (215,8%).

Lg sent more than 74.000 units in 2Q18, what meant a participation in the world market of digital signage of the 8,5%. Despite the year-on-year increase in 36,7% in units in Latin America and the 5,7% in Asia and the Pacific (excluding Japan), this supplier recorded a year-on-year decline in 8,3%.

Goodview was placed in the third place of the ranking in this market, with a year-on-year growth of 30,4% and near 70.000 units shipped. The company recorded strong annual growth rates across various screen sizes, including 55" (with the 45,4%) and 65" (77,2%).

NEC Display dropped to number four in 2Q18, with more than 64.000 units shipped. Despite having experienced a year-on-year decline in 5,4%, in that period there were annual growth gains both in Japan (28,3%) as in Central and Eastern Europe (8,1%).

Foxconn completed the Top 5 in 2Q18, with a market share of 6% in the global market of digital signage, and continued year-on-year gains in the four most important regions, especially in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan).
