In total there will be 25 presentations and 4 panels that will take place at the event. Reports, proposals and visions will be offered on this new technology, which for three days brings together experts from all over the world in Malaga.

4K Summit 2018

Medina Media Events, organizer of the 4K-HDR Summit, has published the agenda for the fifth edition of the main world summit on 4K, to be held from 6 to 8 November at the Pole of digital contents of Malaga.

This summit, which has Panorama Audiovisual as a media partner, magazine of the group Underwood Communication to which Digital AV Magazine also belongs, will have a total of 25 presentations and 4 panels in which reports, proposals and visions will be offered on this new technology, which for three days gathers in Malaga to the best speakers from other international forums such as the NABShow in Las Vegas, the IBC in Amsterdam and the MIPCOM in Cannes.

In addition to the presentations and panels, this year at the 4K-HDR Summit will pay tribute sto Toni Feliu, senior manager at Panasonic (Thursday 7 November at 17:45h), and Luis Martínez, Program Manager at Canal Sur Málaga (Friday 8 November at 13:35h); colleagues in the audiovisual sector who have recently died.

In the framework of this international summit will also take place the establishment of the UHD Spain Association (a non-profit entity of which companies and professionals interested in the development of Ultra High Definition in Spain) will be able to take part, and the gala award ceremony of the Malaga 4K Fest Short Film Festival, at the Albéniz cinema from 19:00h (free access to completion of capacity).

The best analysts in 4K and 8K

The opening day will begin with the presentation of Maria Rua, international analyst of IHS Markit, based in London, who will share with attendees a report on the global evolution of 4K.

Nacho Monge, TV&AV Marketing Director Iberia of the Korean multinational Samsung will be the second speaker to speak, to exhibit the first sports content 8K HDR10+ produced in Spain together with Repsol Honda Team of Moto GP.

Mohammed Hamza, chief analyst at The American S&P Global, will return to the 4K-HDR Summit to present, this time, an exclusive report on 4K technology, which is revolutionizing the smartphone market.

Michel Chabrol, senior vice president New TV Formats in Eutelsat, France, will provide an exclusive report on the ability of satellites to broadcast in 4K and 8K UHD.

On the other hand, Canada's Ross Video, represented by Nestor Amaya, vice president of Infraestructure, will explain the pragmatic video signal retransmission infrastructure using 12G-SDI and IP for 4K UHD production.

The 12G-SDI is a solution used for the video retransmission system by audiovisual companies to reduce the weight and complexity of the system, eliminating dozens of cables in 4K UHD productions. The 12G-SDI transmission system allows you to work with 4K up to 60fps.

Olivier Watzke, product manager at product management group of the American Dolby, will present a world-class audio experience. Watzke will explain how Next Generation Audio delivers an exciting surround sound experience for listeners on all kinds of devices, from TV to mobile.

After the midday cocktail offered by Axión, where the 250 exclusive attendees to the 4K-HDR Summit of Malaga will be able to enjoy local products, thanks to the collaboration of Diputación de Málaga and Sabor a Málaga "El Sabor that joins us" while networking, Nicolás Lecocq, Movistar+'s Senior Manager Video Business will present and talk to the public about the second season of one of the most acclaimed Spanish series in recent times, The Plague.

Prashant Chothani, CEO of TravelXP of India, will unveil "the new limits for operators in 4K HDR and 8K HDR".

Pablo Alemán, managing director of Wild Stories, will participate in the Summit of Malaga, a company that represents content from independent producers, telling spectacular stories of nature, wildlife, travel, human interest and style life.

On the other hand, Amos Rozenberg, CEO of the French production company Paramax Films, will talk about broadcasts of jazz festivals in 4K and 8K. Paramax Films is a production company specialized in the filming and distribution of concerts worldwide. They have over a hundred hours of jazz, pop, full HD rock concerts with prestigious artists (Macy Gray, Maroon 5, Sly & Robbie, Justin Bieber, Will I am, Black Eyed Peas, 50 Cents etc).

The first day will conclude with an 'opening party' sponsored by Tedial, where attendees will enjoy Victoria beer, a beer with all the flavor and character of the city of Malaga.

NASA and Tokyo 2020

The second day of the 4K-HDR Summit will begin with the presentation of Carlos Fontanot, director of images from NASA's International Space Station (ISS), who will return from the Johnson Space Center to the capital of the Costa del Sol to talk about the use of 4K and 8K on board the ISS, the challenges of downloading files to the ground, the impact of gamma rays on sensors, the training that crew members receive, and working with business partners to widely distribute and use NASA material.

Following the presentation of Fontanot, Micka'l Raulet, director of Research & Innovation of the French broadcast company Ateme will talk about 'next generation audio' as an improvement of High Dynamic Range (HDR) video services, applied to large events such as Eurovision, Rock in Rio or Roland Garros.

Ateme will once again participate in the 4K-HDR Summit in Malaga to present its projects, always at the forefront of the latest technologies: audio and video codecs of the latest generation in HDR.

From Norway's Appear, Sergio Renteria and Javier Reyes, they will explain the challenges and learnings in the compression and transport of UHD signals. Based on use cases in different operators, Appear will present an innovative approach. Peter Sykes, Strategic Technology Development Manager of Japan's Sony multi-national, will be another of the speakers of this fifth edition.

Sykes, que repite en la 4K-HDR Summit, participará en la segunda jornada de esta cumbre internacional sobre 4K y 8K, el 7 de noviembre, explicando los flujos de trabajo que emplean en Sony para la creación y entrega de imágenes Ultra HD con Alto Rango Dinámico (HDR).

Por otro lado, Emili Planas, CTO Operations Manager de Mediapro hablará sobre la experiencia de la compañía adquirida durante dos años y medio de producciones deportivas de máximo nivel en UHD-HDR y de las claves para obtener unas imágenes espectaculares en HDR, teniendo en cuenta que de momento la señal más importante sigue siendo la HD-SDR.

Peer Seitz, jefe de producción en Infront Productions (HBS) de Suiza, presentará en la 4K-HDR Summit de Málaga las exitosas pruebas de configuración de cámara conectada a 5G que tuvieron lugar en el BMW Berlín Marathon de 2019, en el pasado mes de septiembre. Es la primera vez que dicha configuración se implementa en Europa continental, en una red pública 5G en vivo.

Uno de los platos fuertes de la 4K-HDR Summit será la ponencia de Stefan Hofmann, Manager Sales Engenieering Live Operation de Panasonic.

La multinacional japonesa tendrá un papel relevante en 2020, año en el que será uno de los protagonistas tecnológicos de los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokyo, de los que es patrocinador y proveedor principal con las cámaras que generarán la señal que en Ultra Alta Definición (UHD) será transmitida a todo el mundo.

Hofmann explicará en la Summit cómo un equipo de más de 300 ingenieros de Panasonic llevan meses trabajando en la sede de la NHK, la televisión pública japonesa, encargada de producir la señal que será ofrecida a todo el mundo a través de canales en abierto, canales de pago como Eurosport, plataformas como Twitter o DAZN, etc.

La segunda jornada continuará con el panel donde Carlos Castán, Industrial Products Manager Broadcast and Cinema Dept. de Canon; y Salvador Luna, Optical Devices Manager de Fujinon (ambas multinacionales japonesas), compartirán los casos de éxito de ambas compañías.

Tras el saludo de Víctor Muñoz, Vice Chancellor of Strategic Projects de la Universidad de Málaga (UMA), será el turno para las universidades.

José Manuel Menéndez, Full Profesor de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid; presentará la Cátedra de Ultra Alta Definición (UHD) están llevando a cabo junto a RTVE, presentación a la que se le sumará José Manuel Sanz, Multimedia Engineering Department de Cellnex.

Por otro lado, el escritor Francisco José Espinosa, en representación de Tilano TV, hablará sobre el “4K para principiantes”.

La UHD Alliance, el UHD Forum y el 5G

Tras el desayuno de bienvenida, patrocinado por Ultra HD Forum y Canal Sur, comenzarán las ponencias y paneles de la jornada de clausura de esta cumbre internacional.

Rafael Porras, presidente de Canal Sur, ofrecerá un saludo, y posteriormente será el turno de intervención de Michael Zink, Chairman de UHD Alliance y de Thierry Fautier, presidente del UHD Forum, quienes participarán conjuntamente en un panel donde hablarán sobre UHDA y UHDF.

A continuación, los gigantes de la electrónica de consumo, representados por la 8K Association, expondrán el ecosistema 8K.

Richard Moreton, de Samsung Electronics Research Institute UK,en representación de la 8K Association (8KA), hablará sobre la maduración del ecosistema 8K y sobre su valor de creación dentro del panorama actual de la fabricación de dispositivos y de la producción de contenidos en Ultra Alta Definición.

Juan Pachón, Technical Sales Manager de Rohde & Schwarz (Alemania); e Inés Sanz, Customer Engineering Manager de Hispasat, hablarán en un panel sobre las oportunidades que el 5G ofrece a las transmisiones en 4K gracias a su mayor potencia, capacidad y rapidez, y con prácticamente ningún retardo, lo que abre un sinfín de posibilidades por explotar al contenido audiovisual, y especialmente al de alta calidad en Ultra Alta Definición (UHD).

El broche de oro a las ponencias de la 4K-HDR Summit 2019 lo pondrá el prestigioso analista internacional de IHS Markit, Paul Gray, que como en cada edición ofrecerá su particular informe a modo de resumen de todos los contenidos expuestos durante las sesiones del evento.

Juan Antonio Vigar, Director de Festival de Málaga cerrará la jornada dirigiéndose a los asistentes e invitándolos a asistir a la gala de entrega de premios del festival “Málaga 4K Fest” y posteriores proyecciones de los cortos ganadores, que tendrá lugar a partir de las 19:00h del viernes 8 de noviembre en el Cine Albéniz de Málaga.

El alcalde de Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, participará también en la clausura de la 4K-HDR Summit e intervendrá justo antes del tributo a Luis Martínez, director de Programas de Canal Sur, fallecido recientemente.
