With the capacity to 1.808 seats, the Seongnam Arts Center, in South Korea, recently completed the project to install a new audio system, which has been completed with the upgrade of the intercom systems, that has been entrusted to Clear-Com and its HelixNet and FreeSpeak II models.

The new system has been deployed in three large spaces of this Korean cultural center in which different performances and live events are held.: the Concert Hall, the Ensemble Theatre and the Opera House, the largest room.

For this project, the heads of the Seongnam Arts Center selected the integrator One-Up Solutions, that had to transition the infrastructure from the existing analogue system to the new all-digital intercom.

blankThe choice to carry it out was that of Clear-Com, building on the work done for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in 2018, whose intercom technology was chosen as standard by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Andy Jae Hyung Ryu, Technical Director of One-Up Solutions, that's how he explains it.: "based on the requirements of international teams and major shows, we knew that Korea's action centers had to have larger digital intercom systems and be upgraded., and Clear-Com's technology guaranteed this process".

The digital intercom system installed in the Opera House includes a HelixNet system and a FreeSpeak II system. The design of the new digital IP system took into account the existing cabling, and it was possible to update with 12 canals (64 endpoints), while still using the traditional three-pin XLR cable infrastructure.

blankspecifically, a HelixNet HMS-4X main station has been installed on the stage manager's desk (backstage) that is set to multiple channels as sound, lighting, video desktop and broadcasting.

A FreeSpeak FSII-Base-II wireless base station, linked in turn with HelixNet and also installed on the stage manager's desktop, connects twenty-five wireless band packets through various wireless antennas 2,4 GHz distributed throughout the enclosure, ensuring perfect roaming.

For Lee Byung-kook, Deputy Director of the Stage Management Department, Seongnam Arts Center, stresses that "when everyone can communicate clearly and in real time, becomes evident in a live event. FreeSpeak II and HelixNet allow us to synchronize all the aspects that make up the performance: lighting, sound, video, talent and more".
