In five years it will be difficult to find a competitive and sustainable organization that does not use virtual reality (RV) in any of its processes. For decades, VR has been part of the collective imagination. We have read books, watch movies and listen to futurologists talk about this technology, as well as generating expectations that, in most cases, have not been fulfilled.

Already in the year 1984, Jaron Lanier co-founded VPL Research and, for the first time, introduced the world to various devices that allowed a person to be immersed in an alternate reality, computer-generated, and interact with the environment.

During the decades of the 80 and the 90 the principles that we know today were created under the term of virtual reality. But it wasn't the time. The existing technology at that time did not allow, in terms of quality and costs, that VR will come and expand.

The tech industry, pushed by Facebook's purchase of a small business called Oculus, for a whopping 2B $, understood that virtual reality would play a decisive role in the organizations of the future and in society, and began the race to develop it.

This last decade has been marked not only by the emergence of high-quality, affordable VR technological devices and systems., but also by the generation by software companies and integrators of such technology.

We have witnessed in recent years the generation of a multitude of experiences in industrial companies, health organizations and educational institutions, that have highlighted the potential of VR technology and, above all, the added value it brings in its different processes.

Virtualware VR ColceramicaThe year 2020, marked by the COVID-19 pandemic has only reinforced the potential of virtual reality and, in many cases, has turned an opportunity into a necessity. During this year we are seeing how what until a few months ago for some organizations was an opportunity to be more competitive, now it is a necessity to continue in the market.

And this change, this circumstantial element that is in our society supposes the COVID-19, is causing profound transformations that are here to stay.

We begin a new decade, and I'm sure it will be a decade of change for virtual reality. It's time to "jump to the next curve" (concept that I heard guy Kawasaki in one of his lectures). This next decade will be marked by the acceleration in the adoption of this technology by organizations and institutions.

Virtualware VirooAn acceleration that will occur thanks to the creation by the technology sector of products and services that will facilitate the irruption of VR as well as by the industry that will increasingly need to introduce it into its processes to be competitive, sustainable and not lose relevance in your market.

For all this, I dare to assure that it will be difficult to find in five years a competitive and sustainable organization that is not using virtual reality in any of its processes.

From Virtualware we will continue working, as we have been doing for more than sixteen,so that it is fulfilled. Because we firmly believe that empowering virtual reality technology and expanding its use will lead organizations to be more sustainable and society to move towards a better world..
