The Sony RSA Cosmos coupule

The French planetarium The Coupole is the first in the world with 10K 3D technology, thanks to the projectors of Sony and the astronomical software of RSA Cosmos, to offer a ‘travel’ immersive by the universe.

The center of historical memory The Coupole Planetarium, located in northern France, now offers an amazing and immersive experience to its visitors, with a ‘trip’ across the universe in an innovative 360° environment thanks to projectors with native 4K resolution VPL-GTZ380 of Sony.

this digital dome, of 15 meters high, will feature twelve Sony 4K VPL-GTZ380 projectors to deliver spectacular real-time and 3D images with the best brightness and contrast levels.

VPL-GTZ380 projectors provide a brightness of 10.000 Lumens thanks to a laser light source, while panels 4K SXRD provide the contrast levels needed to create a truly immersive experience.

In collaboration with RSA Cosmos, the planetarium has decided to install the latest version of its astronomical software SkyExplorer 2021 and, in combination with the latest projection technology, is now able to render and deliver images with incredible quality and resolution.

currently, the planetarium of La Coupole can reach a brightness of 120.000 lumens and play the most complex content with the best level of rendering.

“The objective of this modernization project was to achieve an image quality that we no longer had.. Thanks to Sony projectors we can enjoy a sky with a magnificent level of detail, splendid colors and great contrast”, Designates Nicolas Fiolet, responsible for the 3D planetarium of La Coupole.

To offer at all times the best audiovisual and interactive experience to visitors, RSA Cosmos has also installed new seats, equipped with its public response system.

Each armrest has a control panel that allows the public to participate in quizzes, select scenarios and take direct control of the camera during simulation, which gives the sessions a greater dynamism and provides a greater degree of interaction between attendees.

So he says Amélie Fivey, cheerleader of the 3D planetarium of La Coupole: “the reception by the attendees has been very positive, with a lot of participation from everyone”.
