Resorts World Las Vegas Visionary

The resort Resorts World Las Vegas has become a benchmark in AV over IP connectivity with a multidisciplinary project with Visionary.

Resorts World Las Vegas, first resort built on the Strip in this area, has 3.506 rooms and suites in three different hotels; more than forty food and drink establishments; a theatre with capacity for 5.000 people and a great shopping promenade.

Now this facility has once again become a benchmark in terms of connectivity with an innovative system AV over IP which includes network audio and video with Visionary.

Resorts World Las Vegas Visionary

“Resorts World Las Vegas has built what is probably the largest AV over IP network of its kind. Scott Freshman, Chief Operating Officer of Visionary-. Covers almost all parts of the property, with more than 2.000 endpoints and growing. Project size and scope brought together multiple AV integrators, each responsible for specific areas of the complex and that, despite being competitors they have joined for this ambitious and unique project”.

The specialist Technology West Group was selected to coordinate the project, from the design to the implementation of the general AV system to the network specifications of the entire property.

Richard Reisig, Vp. from Technology West Group, worked directly with Resorts World Las Vegas to facilitate the design of the lower section (known as ‘the podium‘), of the West Tower, The District and all outdoor areas.

“A critical component in a network AV system, which includes more than 2.000 endpoints of PacketAV and 2.000 QLAN channels -adds Reisig-. The number of endpoints continues to grow as we expand the system. This is a very large network, designed to deliver a gigabit of bandwidth without blocking, end-to-end, to any place on the property with less than a millisecond of latency“.

Connectivity in all areas

One of the requirements of Resort World Las Vegas was that it wanted to connect any system in the resort anywhere in it., and therefore the selection of a network-based video solution. “We selected Visionary because it provided us with a reliable solution that covered every single gap and its robust network capabilities.”, underlines Reisig.

PacketAV endpoints, Visionary exclusives, offer a VLAN tagging internal device. Due to the complexity of the network and the different protocols (video, QLAN, dante, AES67, DMX and control), segregation of traffic is critical for effective network management.

“With the size and complexity of the network, VLAN tagging was fundamental to us. Especially on the scale we are reaching," says Reisig.. You can't have 2.000 devices on a single VLAN and wait for it to work”.

Performance and reliability

Another innovation in this project has been the creation by Visionary of a wall plate encoder with Bluetooth implemented throughout the system.

As Reisig points out, “Visionary had a HDMI wall-mounted encoder with VLAN tagging. We contacted them because, despite being very good we do not need analog audio, but Bluetooth', and his team offered to make us a custom wall plate that incorporated the Bluetooth audio. Their flexibility changed our game. It allowed us to reduce the number of ports, Switches, energy consumption and overhead costs by integrating two different products into one”.

This Visionary board encoder with Bluetooth is the first of its kind. Duet Wall Plate Encoder combines a powerful 4K UHD video and Dante/AES67 through a single gigabit Ethernet port.

Thanks to the use of Bluetooth 5.0 of achieves greater reach, faster data throughput and reliable connections. Duet Wall Plate Encoder supports two-way connectivity of smartphones for AV integration of web conferencing with codecs that eliminate separate bridging hardware.

Intuitive AV system

Resorts World Las Vegas can now transmit a signal from anywhere in the venue and distribute it to the gigantic Led screen (of 9.290 m2, and recognized as one of the largest of its kind in U.S. buildings, more details on Digital AV); to the theatre, to the casino or anywhere else in the resort.

All this makes the guest experience at Resorts World Las Vegas one of the most technologically advanced. All rooms at the resort's three hotels – Las Vegas Hilton, Conrad Las Vegas and Crockfords Las Vegas- have an intuitive AV system, created by One Touch Living.

“The goal of the project was to design the technology of the rooms to improve the guest experience, he recalls. Corey Brushia, President of One Touch Living-, and create an environment that would allow them to interact in their rooms and with the rest of the complex”.

Visionary's technology eliminated the need for a conventional HDBaseT array, “and it allowed us to network from anywhere to anywhere," he continues.. For example, we can take the content of an executive suite, connect it to a meeting room or ballroom, or broadcast a special event in a villa. The possibilities are endless”.

Network distribution

National Technology Associates, based in Las Vegas, has been responsible for the integration into the common areas of the first floor of the complex, including hotel lobbies, the registration area, casino and gaming, as well as the underground levels.

Shane Snell, project manager, National Technology Associates, stresses that “one of the biggest challenges of this project has been the scale. The property has almost 2.000 video endpoints and thousands of speaker channels. I'm not sure it's possible to distribute those components in any other way than networked.. Now all systems can communicate with each other because AV integration is on the same network. We have standardized Visionary and QSC to streamline communication between components “.

Resorts World Las Vegas has a immersive theatre next-generation, with the capacity to 5.000 Spectators. World music stars like Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan will be the founding headliners of the venue.

Companies Scéno Plus, specialized in theatrical design based in Montreal (Canada), was hired to create the design, and Solotech for the technological integration of theatre.

As Highlighted by François Blais, Vp. of technology and specialized equipment of Scéno Plus, “We 35 years working in the construction of theaters around the world and our job is to make sure everything is coordinated. We want artists to perform in this place and tell us: 'this is one of the best places we've ever performed, and we want to come back again'. Visionary allowed us to quickly and efficiently manage this large-scale installation”.

Sébastien Larose, AV designer of Scéno Plus, adds that “we have more than 150 televisions in theatres. The possibility of putting the content on the network and passing a single CAT5 cable helps us simplify the system. We have Visionary endpoints almost everywhere because it allows you to take a signal from any location and transmit it anywhere in the facility.”.

Integration and sustainability

The solotech integrator was selected for the design and construction of the Zouk Nightclub of Resorts World Las Vegas, in the day club Ayu Dayclub and the restaurants and lounges that accompany it.

“We have a mix of screens in all restaurants, day club and disco cabins and bungalows. We've integrated Visionary endpoints across all areas and have simplified control for the guest to choose from sources and receive content at those endpoints”, explains Aaron Beck, Director of Business Development at Solotech.

Visionary endpoints use standard PoE power. This distinctive feature is directly linked to Resorts World Las Vegas' sustainability initiatives..

This is what Reisig points out: “this complex focuses on corporate social responsibility efforts that allow both the community and the environment to win. We use fewer products with Visionary's Duet wall plate encoder because it integrates multiple solutions into one, in addition to using much less energy than the competition because it works with standard PoE”.
