Based at 80 miles north of London, Cranfield University educates students in technology and management, and is the UK's largest provider of engineering master's degree graduates. The center relied on standard live video streaming products and handheld cameras to deliver its online lessons., but due to poor video quality, researched new solutions to upgrade its transmission infrastructure and capabilities.

Today, academics teach their classes thanks to NDI and the NewTek TriCaster video production system.

NDI is a high-performance audio/video standard that allows anyone to use very low latency video in real time on an existing IP video network. Cranfield started with a TriCaster Mini and used it with NewTek TalkShow VS 4000, which is a multi-channel video calling system designed to simultaneously connect up to four remote guests in real time. Due to increased demand and the success of the production studio, the University team chose to upgrade to TriCaster 2 Elite premium de NewTek, provides greater functionality and capabilities.
