Coventry University relies on Audient Oria for its immersive studies
Currently, There are two systems Audient Oria installed in two different rooms. The smaller of the two uses a speaker setup Adam Audio 7.1.4 and in the other it has been committed to the teams Genelec 10.1.4.
The Coventry University (United Kingdom) has chosen Audient Oria to equip the new rooms Dolby Atmos immersive audio interface and monitor controller.
“Oria's simplicity makes it easy to use, which has improved our workflow and helped staff and students get up and running with ease”, Says Benoit Granier, director of the Music and Audio Production course of this teaching center.
Currently, there are two Audient Oria systems, Brand Distributing Audio-Technica Iberia, installed in two different rooms. The smaller of the two uses a configuration of Adam Audio speakers 7.1.4 and in the other teams Genelec 10.1.4.
“The integration of the Dante card has allowed us to work seamlessly across our extensive network of Dante studios, integrating our current systems and hardware. We are using them in studios that contain both PCs and Macs for game audio production, Mastering and music production”, Granier continues.
A third Oria is being used for short-duration Dolby Atmos installations. The SoundID Reference room calibration integrated into Oria, allows for accurate measurement and calibration of multi-channel configurations in less than an hour.
Dolby Atmos is included in all courses in the Music and Audio Production curriculum that involve sound design, Mixing and production, so it has been important for everyone to get going quickly.
“Both staff and students have enjoyed using Oria and the simplicity of the interface has made it easy for them to track and mix in Dolby Atmos. The learning curve has been manageable, as both Dolby Atmos and Oria are designed to be easy to use, making it easier for staff and students to adopt. It has allowed us to spend more time on mixing details, mastering and sound design for Dolby Atmos, instead of focusing on system installation and configuration”, says Benoit. This has been even more important when it comes to the master's course, whose students have been using and exploring Dolby Atmos and immersive audio at an even higher level.
Coventry University, which is not alien to Audient, has been using iD4 Audio Interfaces and also has a ASP8024 in one of his six music recording studios. “Teaching with ASP8024 has been great, as it allows students to learn more about workflow through hands-on experience with an analog table. The layout is clean and super friendly, Students are able to quickly achieve the results they want when recording”, Benoit adds.
