The Government of the community of Madrid and the patron saint of lighting and electrical equipment sector have signed a trade-in to improve the safety of emergency lighting in public spaces which shall enter into force on 1 September.

Hotels, theaters, restaurants and other places of public gathering will have to change and modernize its next September 1 emergency lighting to improve the safety of persons and, at the same time, that are energy efficient.
This first plan renove places emergency lighting public has been signed just a month ago by the President of the Comunidad de Madrid, Ignacio Gonzalez; the Foundation of the energy of the community of Madrid; the Professional Association of entrepreneurs of electrical and telecommunications of Madrid)Apiem); the Association of distributors of Material (electrical)Adime); the Association for the recycling of lamps)Ambilamp); the luminaires waste recycling and regeneration of the Environment Foundation)Ecolum) and the Spanish Association of manufacturers of lighting)ANFALUM).
The signing of this agreement arises from a study on lighting systems of emergency, whose results show operational deficiency and security in spaces and facilities of public attendance, with serious failures in the illumination of signs and routes of evacuation, among others in the region.
The objective of this first plan renove community Madrid is to improve the security of this critical in this type of facility lighting, modernizing this lighting with lamps of emergency that integrates an autotest system, what would be at the same time in significant savings in energy consumption.
According to data provided by the employer, in Madrid there is a park installed between three and four million of emergency lighting equipment, which practically half does not work correctly and do not have mechanisms for the correct operation of the luminaire and its autonomy.
These systems, responsible for illuminating the signals of emergency escape routes, location of alarm and fire protection systems, should also properly operate if a fault occurs in the power supply and provide a range of, at least, one hour, as it is the case with other critical systems for the safety and integrity of persons and goods.
