Surveon's NVR with hardware RAID has been chosen by the largest bank in Vietnam, Agribank, to implement a point-to-point video surveillance solution.

Agribank (Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) It is the largest commercial bank in Vietnam in terms of capital, assets, workforce, operational network and customer base. It has 37.500 employees in 2.300 branches,
serving 10 million homes and 30,000 companies throughout the country. This Vietnamese bank wanted to expand its video surveillance system in order to meet business growth and achieve centralized management of its surveillance networks..

Agribank planned to create a new system at its provincial headquarters in Yen Bai, and at the same time manage the surveillance networks of six other locations in the province, and for this he turned to the company Surveon Technology, offering end-to-end video surveillance solutions. As with many other users, the bank had to face a big challenge after deciding to adopt megapixel solutions: the way to select and integrate new technologies that offer professional and reliable solutions.

The bank was concerned about the feasibility of establishing a complete end-to-end megapixel solution that goes beyond simply installing megapixel cameras.. With a strong technological base, Surveon's integration partner, Tan Binh Minh, was well aware of the impact of the bandwidth required by megapixel streams on system performance and the stability generated by it.

Scalability solution

Regarding the implementation of the solution, The client required a distributed structure with centralized administration. Besides, the solution had to be scalable, allowing the client to incorporate cameras in individual locations or expand the coverage of the solution including even new areas.

The client was also thinking about adding advanced technologies. In its old structure, monitoring depended completely on the human component, which implied low efficiency. Additionally, when the events occurred within the coverage field of the video surveillance network, the client had to spend a considerable amount of time and effort to gather information related to the event, and track these.

Reliable megapixel quality

Regarding video quality, The client required that the solution support at least megapixel cameras and be able to guarantee sufficient reliability for long-term operations.. Finally, the solution had to support different types of environments and applications (interior and exterior, dust and water resistant, etc.)

Le Hong Thanh, Tan Binh Minh executive, has commented: “Surveon, with its open point-to-point megapixel solutions, understands our concerns regarding megapixel integration and is able to meet Agribank's needs in relation to a stable and quality surveillance system. We have been able to quickly complete the Agribank project and fully satisfy their requirements for the new systems.”

Solutions

Surveon's solution was composed of a megapixel recorder(SMR) in each of the six locations, with several cameras associated with this SMR. The solution also included 28 IP cameras: : 11 cameras CAM4365 (3M D/N
outdoor, Sony low light, fixed dome), 11 CAM4260 cameras (D/N outdoor, fixed dome), y 6 cameras CAM3260 (D/N bullet ).

Le Hong Thanh explained that “as a video surveillance integrator, We have a lot of experience in integration projects in many different areas. However, For megapixel projects we are more concerned about how to integrate a complete and certified solution in order to guarantee operational stability. For banking applications, we cannot accept any risk caused by uncertain factors. We selected Surveon's megapixel solution because it includes cameras, megapixel recorders and VMS management software, and has been completely tested and certified”.

The system used by Agribank also includes active event monitoring and smart research technology., that facilitates surveillance control for Agribank. Through real-time video analytics , All important events can be effectively displayed on the alarm panel of the solution, allowing security guards to immediately follow events. For example, when a suspicious person is detected in the bank's ATM area, The system triggers an alarm to notify security guards and record the developing situation. Past events can also be quickly identified with the search function.

Le Hong Thanh added that “a big concern for us when installing megapixel solutions is storage performance and reliability.”. From past experiences, we can confirm that if even traditional PC-based solutions- or COTS can be used in D1 or VGA camera projects, these cannot support the tasks for megapixel applications. Performance stability issues caused by I/O loading, frames per second drop, etc. “These are real problems for integrators when it comes to providing support services for megapixel projects.”

Surveon RAID NVR systems have helped customer overcome I/O mishaps and reliability issues often encountered in megapixel IP surveillance systems. The SMR5000 systems in this case with RAID 5 via hardware offer configurations to effectively distribute the CPU load, and at the same time support megapixel recording in 20 canales. The high-performance NVR2000 system features advanced EonStor RAID storage support with independent RAID controllers to offer solutions even
best for medium and large scale projects.

Solutions “in-house”

Surveon cameras are developed and manufactured “in-house”, offering a complete SMT solution for finished product manufacturing and providing end users with products that operate with high stability. With firmware developed entirely “in-house”, Surveon is able to monitor and manage all IP camera issues that may be encountered in video streaming or other problems created by network complexity..

Elvin Hsu, Surveon Sales Manager, has pointed out: “With about 20 years of experience in managing systems
storage, We can confirm that reliability is the most important aspect for integrators in the video surveillance industry., compared to any other industry . If a single camera breaks, An integrator can easily spend an entire day at the end customer's installation to detect the problem and make the necessary repairs, causing significant additional costs for the integrator”.

“A malfunction in the NVR storage or recorder would cause a huge maintenance problem for both the integrator and the customer.”. In addition to the firmware developed in-house, Surveon teams offer 3 years warranty, including all components used in the products. Another aspect of our commitment is the quality of our SMT system and in-house production”, added Elvin Hsu.

For your part, Le Hong Thanh has pointed out that “unlike PC-based NVR solutions, Surveon adopts a completely customized system design for video surveillance applications. This offers greater value for integrators, including advanced levels of integration and stability.”
