Christie fills the spectacular presentation of the new Audi A3 with light inside a geodesic dome
La ‘Audi A3 Experience’ presents the new Audi A3 Sportback in Spain offering an unprecedented audiovisual show with 360º projections, mapping 3D y Show Master Control, concebido por New Media Creative Technology Studio.
Audi has launched the 'Audi A3 Experience' in Madrid and Barcelona, an impressive audiovisual experience that combines 360º projections, 3D mapping and Show Master Control to unveil the new A3 Sportback model.
The show, produced by New Media Creative Technology Studio, use different models of projectors Christie y videowalls de Christie MicroTiles, provided by the company Ingevideo.
The event was first enjoyed in the Plaza de Colón in Madrid between the 28 of February and 8 March, and can now be seen in the Plaza de Catalunya in Barcelona from the 16 al 23 March.
The space where the show takes place is a geodesic structure shaped like an igloo, known as dome, which has a negative pressure system that allows the elevation of a screen of 800 square meters that makes the metal structure disappear, a true milestone of modern engineering. With dimensions of 21,7 meters in diameter and 10,5 meters high, occupies a surface area of approximately 370 square meters.
Six Christie Roadster HD20K-J projectors have been installed inside the dome. (DLP the 3 chips, HD resolution, 18.000 ANSI lumens) that make 360º projections on the screen generating more than 12 millions of pixels at 4K resolution, all this synchronized through Delta Media Server 7thSense servers, Medialon and with L-Acoustic sound 5.1.
The six projectors, located on supports 2 meters and separated from each other by about 60º, They work by blending and warping with the Christie Twist module.
Three more Christie projectors, in this case three Christie HD14K-M (DLP the 3 chips, HD resolution, 13.500 ANSI lumens), They perform a 3D mapping on an A3 Sportback that is located on a rotating stage inside the dome.
Technique at the service of creativity
The show begins in the dark and with a voice-over indicating the beginning. First, the rings that make up the Audi logo light up rhythmically and one by one., and then different flashes of light appear using the 3D mapping technique that connect with each other and give rise to an endless number of luminous cubes that form the first complete image of the stage.. Later, lines appear from right to left., that move quickly and draw the shapes of the new Audi A3 Sportback. Next, the frame that hides the Audi A3 Sportback and on which the silhouette is projected slowly slides, to make way for the real car. The idea is to offer the transition between the virtual and the real.
when the car starts, turns on itself and faces the audience, The position lights turn on, creating a sensation of movement, in such a way that it seems as if it were moving towards an abstract universe of lines, spirals and tunnels projected on the stage.
Once the Audi A3 Sportback leaves the tunnel, we find the cities of Madrid and Barcelona, shot with 360º techniques, which are projected on the surface of the screen and reflected on the body of the car. The new Audi A3 Sportback mixes with pre-recorded images of cities, giving the sensation of driving through them.
The show also features two Christie MicroTiles video walls that show the television advertisement for the Audi A3. There is also a Christie LX1500 projector (3 LCD, XGA resolution, 15.000 ANSI lumens) which makes a projection on the outer surface of the dome.
Marcos Fernandez, Christie's Sales Director for Spain and Portugal, has assured that this project is “a spectacular event, something truly shocking and never seen before in Spain. It is fascinating how New Media has been able to take advantage of our visualization technology to create such a creative and complex experience.”.
For your part, Diego de Anna, CEO of New Media, has added that “The truth is that this initiative is totally new in Spain and with this sophisticated technical equipment we manage to immerse the audience in a total immersion of images. We choose Christie projectors for their reliability, robustness and versatility. They are projectors that offer us the greatest features that we can demand from equipment with similar characteristics that are on the market today., in addition to being very intuitive when it comes to handling”.
The screenings last around eight minutes and a minimum of 20 sessions, at a time between eleven in the morning and nine at night, so it is estimated that, between the two cities, nails 10.000 people will be able to enjoy the Audi A3 Experience in these weeks.
