Sony has announced the launch of two medical monitors that combine 4K and 3D technologies to offer a high level of brightness, Improved resolution and greater depth of field for a wide variety of medical applications. These are the LMD-X550MT surgical models of 55 inches and LMD-X310MT 31 inches that display 2D and 3D content in HD or 4K resolution.

These devices are designed to be used with endoscopes and 4K or 3D surgical microscopes in the operating room., as well as in medical training and education facilities.

Sony LMD-X550MT y LMDlmd-x310mt4K quadruples HD resolution, resulting in greater clarity and contrast, and more accurate color reproduction. The higher number of pixels in a 4K image means that objects are displayed with higher definition compared to high definition, contributing to improved vision in surgical settings.

3D visualization improves surgical precision, reduces procedure time and offers realistic depth perception. Combining 4K and 3D Expands Visualization Capabilities for Surgical Teams, where previously 3D images were limited to HD resolution.

“With the introduction of these monitors, Sony has managed to combine the best of the 4K and 3D universe. It has improved vision in surgical contexts through greater resolution for the identification of the surface structure of tissues, thanks to optimized brightness and color reproduction, as well as surgical precision, thanks to the greater depth perception offered by 3D visualization”, explains John Herman, Head of Product Marketing at Sony Professional Solutions Europe.

Sony LMD-X310MTThe new series of monitors can display a greater number of 3D signal formats, compared to existing models, in both HD and 4K resolution.

In the case of dual channel HD 3D video format, used by many 3D endoscopes, These new monitors will be able to combine and reproduce Full HD resolution of both the left and right channels, in contrast to conventional 3D monitors, limited to the use of a single HD panel, must discard the 50 % of the vertical resolution.

Monitors also feature Sony's original OptiContrast panel, an optical technology that reduces glare and reflections, and increases contrast to ensure vivid, sharp images with deep black reproduction. By increasing the contrast ratio under direct light, This technology guarantees improved color reproduction, allowing operating room staff to enjoy more precise visualization.

Sony LMD-X550MTWith AIME technology (Advanced Image Multiple Enhancer, advanced multi image enhancer), Operators can adjust the structure and colors of 4K and 3D images from endoscopes and surgical microscopes in real time, to enjoy a more comfortable viewing.

Designed to enhance any operating room, These monitors feature a modern borderless glass front design, a robust aluminum casing and a detachable cable cover on the back that allows you to hide connectors and manage cables efficiently. Besides, can be easily cleaned with commonly used infection control cleaning solutions.

Monitors come equipped with disposable, compatible 3D eye protectors, intended for use by surgeons and nursing staff viewing the images. These meet the requirements set out in Annex II of Directive 89/686/EEC on personal protective equipment and can be used to protect users from splashes of blood and other liquids., in addition to allowing its visualization in 3D on surgical monitors during laparoscopy procedures.
