National September 11 Memorial & Museum renews its digital signage network with BrightSign
The manufacturer has been selected to supply its multimedia players to this museum dedicated to the memory and remembrance of the victims of the tragic terrorist attack in 2001 in New York, which has recently renewed its digital signage network, integrated by Smart Digital Solutions.
Located in lower Manhattan, National September 11 Memorial & Museum, a space that pays a heartfelt tribute to the 2.976 died in the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in New York, has renewed its entire digital signage network, that in these years had become obsolete (more details of this installation analyzed in Digital AV Magazine), in addition to improving the visitor experience with interactive technologies.
A project that its managers have entrusted to the specialist Smart Digital Solutions, responsible for systems integration and support, and in the manufacturer's multimedia players BrightSign, as a fundamental part of this initial deployment, the first in a series of technological improvements to the museum.
In his more than 9.290 square meters, The museum relies heavily on the screens that make up the digital signage network to help visitors make the most of their time in this space., as well as as a means of communication and guide. Besides, is open 365 days of the year, with a maximum of fourteen hours a day during peak tourist seasons, welcoming 20.000 visitors daily.
With these activity parameters, Any downtime on your digital signage network poses serious inconveniences., Therefore, one of the requirements in this renovation was that the hardware be robust and guarantee the operation and high performance of the installation., elements that marked the selection of BrightSign media players.
Specifically, The installed BrightSign media players currently power one-third of this facility's digital signage network., with informative and interactive content to about thirty digital screens of different sizes located on the seven floors of the underground museum.
As Hal Scharfman has pointed out, CTO de Smart Digital Solutions, “We are impressed by the flexibility of BrightSign's 4K media players, and for its solid feature set to achieve everything we wanted to do technically, but at a much more affordable cost than a comparable PC-based solution.”.
BrightSign 4K Players Power a Mix of Digital Displays, tactile, interactive and video walls from manufacturers Sharp and LG, deployed at the museum's entrance points and spaces that bring together a large influx of people.
Content is produced in-house and managed remotely through BrightSign Network Enterprise Edition from the museum's administrative offices.
The next phase of implementation will incorporate streaming video projected in the sixty exhibitions offered by the museum, which also plans to standardize BrightSign's 4K media players to streamline the management of the entire digital signage network.
“The initial deployment of BrightSign media players has been very successful,” said Steve Hey., director of technological infrastructure and security at National September 11 Memorial. They have been deployed and installed without problems, with flawless operation and no downtime right out of the box, “So they will feature prominently in future displays as we continue to update digital signage throughout the museum.”.
