Genelec is committed to sustainability for its new RAW monitors
Developed in collaboration with designer Harri Koskinen and made from recycled aluminum, They are available in two tracks and include models from the Studio lines, AV y Home Audio.
Genelec has updated its Studio monitor ranges, AV and Home Audio with new models finished in RAW aluminum color. They all feature the timeless enclosure design with minimal diffraction (MDE), developed by manufacturer, in close collaboration with designer Harri Koskinen, and made with recycled aluminum.
RAW versions, from this manufacturer that distributes Audio-Technica Iberia, require no painting and less finishing material than standard painted models, creating an even more environmentally friendly speaker that allows the natural beauty of the housing's raw aluminum to shine and gives each monitor a unique look and feel.
Available models are all two-way and include near-field studio monitors 8020, 8030 y 8040, installation enclosures 4020, 4030 y 4040, the new Smart IP 4420 y 4430 and the domestic G Two, G Three y G Four.
Genelec's original use of aluminum housings dates back to 1996 with the launch of the near-field model 1029A, with the distinctive curves of the die-cast MDE design finally achieving global recognition when the series was introduced 8000 in 2004.
By eliminating edge diffractions, the MDE offers an incredibly flat frequency response, Accurate Imaging and Unparalleled Acoustic Performance. The slim enclosure is elegantly molded and beautifully finished to provide an extreme rigid structure with a large internal volume, thereby extending the frequency response while simultaneously reducing resonances and, therefore, the amount of internal cushioning material required.
“We have been testing the RAW finish for a long period of time, evaluating customer response while adjusting the production process. Although we were driven by the desire to offer a venue option with even greater sustainability credentials, “It became clear that customers from all market segments also loved the ‘industrial’ design aesthetic that RAW represents.”, comments Siamak Naghian, managing director of Genelec.
