Motion Mapping transforms the façade of the Palace of Westminster into a dynamic canvas
For this projection in tribute to the nursing service, two Hippotizer Amba+ multimedia servers from Green Hippo and three Panasonic devices were used., of 30.000 lumens each, installed to 260 meters away.
The iconic Palace of Westminster in London, and specifically its facade, recently became a vast projection surface, coinciding with International Nurses Day, in which images of gratitude were shown to the workers of the United Kingdom National Health Service (NHS).
For this project, projection experts Motion Mapping deployed two Hippotizer Amba+ media servers from Green Hippo (brand that sells in Spain Earpro) to blend and display visual content to ensure it displayed smoothly on the building's intricate façade.
Stuart Harris, responsible for Motion Mapping in the project, assures that he made “good use of the Shape feature of this server to achieve great results. We had only 45 minutes on site to do the projection correctly, including all alignment and mixing with Parliament framework, and broadcast it live to the media around the world that covered the event. Shape made it simpler to blend images so they appear correctly, even from such a long distance, of 260 metros. We even had to do some of this in real time, and the Amba+ handled it with ease.
Other features of these servers, such as advanced management and time control “allowed us to change and modify quickly,” explains Harris.. And when a problem arose, like a light on in one of the windows of Parliament, I could create a solution in seconds, which is very useful when the images are about to be broadcast around the world”.
The visual content displayed ranged from messages of gratitude to large Florence Nightingale images, known as the 'founder of modern nursing', coinciding with the two hundredth anniversary of his birth.
Located on the south bank of the Thames, specifically in the parking lot of the Santo Tomás Hospital, Harris used four powerful projectors Panasonic, of 30.000 lumens each, to create crystal clear images of the building's ornamental architecture.
“As expected, There was a lot of bureaucracy prior to the screening event, which included approvals at the highest levels of Parliament - Harris points out -. But we only had one chance to get it on site., That's why I needed a reliable and easy-to-configure server solution., and the Hippotizer provided the right tool to achieve this: “They are vital systems in the visual arsenal of Motion Mapping.”.
