A five-channel Fulldome system with Panasonic configures the projection facility for the Hemispheric of the City of Arts and Sciences to perform astronomy performances and immersive shows in high definition.

Opened in 1998, Hemispheric was the first building of the iconic City of Arts and Sciences (Ciutat de les Arts i les Cisncies) Valencia to open its doors to the public. Its bold and unique structure, with an ovoid cover of more than 100 meters in length, represents a great human eye: the eye of wisdom, with which its creator, the architect and sculptor Santiago Calatrava, wanted to symbolize the look and observation of the world that visitors discover through amazing audiovisual projections.

The dome screen of the Hemispheric de Valencia, of 900 m2, is the largest in Spain today, for which it has three powerful projection systems. Located in this iconic building, inside you can experience the cinema IMAX in large format, 3D digital shows and full-dome digital projections with the Fulldome system.

In the latter case, this room with dome screen is used to perform astronomical performances and immersive entertainment shows, who completely immerse the viewer in the visualization offered.

“Our goal is to be able to move our viewers to another planet or even another galaxy from their armchairs, their leaders point out.. Something that is a big challenge because of the dimensions of our room and the intensive use we make of projectors”.

Precisely this has been a fundamental reason “by which we have selected Panasonic technology, because it gives us a great definition of image, the necessary luminosity and durability”, Underline.

Five-channel Fulldome System

The entire dome screen of the Hemispheric is made available to the viewer to offer a wide variety of high quality and sharp digital content. Panasonic's five laser video projectors play a key role, generating a high-resolution 2D image.

In particular, the model's three-chip laser DLP projectors have been installed PT-RZ12 from this manufacturer, each with a power of 12.000 Lumens, WUXGA resolution and contrast 20.000:1, the result of which is the creation of immersive visual experience that envelops the viewer, either in observing the Universe in real time each time of the year or in cinematic content.

With a high-lasting glow, Panasonic PT-RZ12 can operate uninterruptedly during 20.000 hours, with dust-resistant liquid cooling system (no air filters needed) and airtight optics.

Add to this a high frame rate of 120 Hz for crisp moving images, a particularly advantageous feature in your app for entertainment and event environments.

Its hybrid wheel system offers excellent image quality, combining the sharpness of it with a real color thanks to laser motors Solid Shine, with double phosphor wheel and double laser module.

With a compact and lightweight design, the PT-RZ12 projector is a particularly suitable solution for intensive application in museums, exhibitions, schools and digital signage systems.
