Renkus-Heinz at Utah State University

At the welcome center, the sound of Renkus-Heinz, specifically the ICLive X system, accompanies the big screen 12 meters wide.

Renkus-Heinz at Utah State UniversityUtah State University (Utah State University – USU) has set its sights on providing large school opportunities with a small school feel on its Logan campus, where most of their 28.000 students enroll every year. The university has a diverse offering of degrees across its eight faculties and has six national parks within a half-day drive from campus..

The center also impresses with its robust audiovisual offering. Jim Wellings, senior systems designer and programmer for the USU Department of Academic and Instructional Services, works to ensure the school offers high-quality audio and video on campus and for remote students alike. And among the equipment that has been installed, the Renkus-Heinz speakers stand out..

“Our welcome center, where we first introduce the campus to prospective students and parents, It has impressive audio and video”, explica Wellings. “The first thing you see is the screen, which is atypical in an aspect ratio of 32:9. has some 12 meters wide and full 4K quality. Then you hear the sound, which makes things even more impressive, and that is provided by the Renkus-Heinz system ICLive X ”.

The ICLive X series is the culmination of more than a decade of experience in steerable line arrays. The series is a complete system, designed from scratch, and offers the Acoustic Source Multiplier waveguide (ASM) exclusive to Renkus-Heinz.

The ASM allows the HF section to be coaxially mounted in front of the LF section. Coaxial driver arrangement provides a uniform, symmetrical array of high and low frequencies along the entire length of the array, allowing the freedom to choose any acoustic center available.

The ICLive X offers all the benefits of Renkus-Heinz directional technology, allowing sound to be digitally positioned exactly where you want it: in the audience.

Utah State welcome center uses five ICLive X modules in the room. Two modules are placed to the left and right of the main screen, and a single ICLive XL is located in the center of the room, above the screen. Two ICLX118S subwoofers add powerful subwoofer to the system.

“We have it set to stereo sound with the left and right used for mids and the center for dialogue reinforcement.”, aclara Wellings. “It is a large, square room., which seems to be not the best for sound, but with Renkus-Heinz you know it will sound excellent. This was no exception”.

Wellings comments that the confidence comes from the previous installations of the Renkus-Heinz solutions university. an auditorium, a performance space and large classroom at Utah State have seen Renkus-Heinz integrations in recent years.
