The study 9.1.6 Dolby Atmos of Sound360 uses coaxial monitors Genelec The Ones and has three 8351 for L-C-R channels, twelve 8341 such as surrounds and overheads, and three 7370 as subs. The entire system is tuned and calibrated using GLM Loudspeaker Manager software.

Smart Active Monitors from Genelec are helping Sound360 create the first studio 9.1.6 Dolby Atmos from South Korea.

“The recording room is designed for Dolby Atmos 3D audio and immersive sound recording and mixing”, Explains Ha Neul Lee, audio engineer responsible for stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes at Audioguy. “The reverberation time and acoustic treatment of the study were also calibrated for mixing in 360 degrees with surround sound monitors”.

The decision to create an immersive recording space was based on the belief that this is the direction in which it is moving., while the format 9.1.6 was selected for its ability to offer 3D blends through popular consumer devices.

“Now that immersive audio is available, Dolby Atmos is one of several immersive audio formats that Sound360 offers. The mixtures that are created with the system 9.1.6 here in the studio, can be easily enjoyed using a simple stereo system like the one found on a mobile device. This compatibility is finally making 3D audio more accessible to the public., and it's becoming popular", adds Choi.

The room is custom designed for immersive sound recording and mixing. In fact, the reverberation time and acoustic treatment of the study were also calibrated for mixing in 360 degrees with surround sound monitors.

When choosing the monitors for this study, Sound360 opted for Genelec. "Their monitors deliver consistent sound not only at high volumes., but also relatively low, so I can get the right balance of each instrument in the mix.", choi explains.

Genelec The Ones Monitors

Sound360 worked hand-in-hand with local Genelec distributor, Sama Sound, to create the configuration 9.1.6 of your studio. The space uses three-way coaxial monitors from the series The Ones, and has three 8351 for L-C-R channels, twelve 8341 such as surrounds and overheads, and three 7370 as subs, with the entire system tuned and calibrated using the software GLM Loudspeaker Manager.

Ha Neul Lee, engineer responsible for the installation, provides more details: "When using Genelec's smart active monitors with GLM, we have been able to calibrate the monitoring systems to obtain a consistent sound from one room to another. We were even able to fix the acoustic issues while working with the consistent sound.".

Today, artists like Blackpink, ITZY, Twice, AKMU, MULLET, Stayc, Beenzino, Treasure, Fisherman, Bewhy, Giriboy, Sumin and Guckkasten are producing or recording their new releases on Sound360.
