The UN technology museum incorporates the sound of Holosonics
In the lobby of the General Assembly of the HIM In New York there is a permanent exhibition in which a collection of screens has been installed along the wall. The audio for each of them is delivered by a dedicated AS-168iX speaker. Holosonics, top mounted.
He United Nations Museum of Technology, located at the headquarters of the HIM in New York use directional speakers Audio Spotlight of Holosonics as part of its permanent audiovisual exhibition, 'Delivering a message of peace'.
The installation, which is located in the public lobby of the General Assembly building, offers a detailed look at how technology has been used within the organization to enable peace talks, from the original pens that signed the United Nations Charter up to current technology.
The goal of the exhibition is “to be as immersive as possible.”, explains Phillip Mango from the Office of Information and Communication Technology (OICT).
This exhibit features a collection of video screen presentations along the wall of about 7,6 metros, one for each decade, from 1940. Audio from each screen is delivered by a speaker AS-168iX dedicated top mounted, creating an equal number of isolated listening zones, despite the extreme proximity of each screen and the narrow sound beam.
Each listener has their own unique audio experience, without being bothered by others in line. Besides, since the sound fields created by Audio Spotlight technology are so precise, the other exhibit areas throughout the museum and lobby remain peacefully silent.
UN Technology Museum joins long list of museums, galleries and other public places that have implemented Audio Spotlight, not only for its sound field capabilities, but also because of its inherently contactless nature.
