Tecnalia Target3D at Flying Robots Lab

alongside Tecnalia, Target 3D has opted for the technology of Optitrack to create a safe space for drone flight testing. The motion capture system is integrated by 24 Primex22 cameras and 6 Primex13 remotely controlled with a tablet.

Tecnalia Research & Innovation and Target3D Iberia have developed a turnkey solution UAV Tracking To install Flying Robots Lab, A space that will allow drones to be validated in a safe environment, in adverse weather conditions, Using programmable fans to simulate wind flows.

This new system in Spain performs flight tests with drones and UAVs that allow precise positioning of aircraft indoors and in the absence of satellites.

Tecnalia is a benchmark in Europe and collaborates with companies and institutions around the world. The installation of this novel space to perform flight validation tests of multicopters is completed, UAVs with wings, New bio-inspired aircraft architectures or drones with aerial robotics applications. In addition, Experimentally test and validate advanced control algorithms.

The installation needed an expert team to cover 400 square meters of area and 10 meters high, a challenge very well solved by Target3D Iberia together with Optitrack technology. The motion capture system is integrated by 24 cameras Primex22 and 6 Primex13 Remotely controlled with a tablet.

"The relationship of both companies goes back a year 2020 when you installed an Optitrack motion capture system from 25 square meters, composed of 6 PrimeX13 cameras. Thanks to this system, Tecnalia has been able to validate the technology, Capabilities and their operation. It has continued to rely on Target3D Iberia to install the new Flying Robots Lab based on the same Optitrack motion capture system, which will allow us to have one of the main facilities of this type in Spain and Europe”, comments Jose Ramón García Martínez, project manager of Urban Air Mobility Lab at Rectalia.
