The Panorama Landscape hotel integrates Genelec's Smart IP technology

Original planning began in 2018, and the construction was made possible thanks to the investment of the former rally champion Tommi Mäkinen and the former Formula champion 1 Kimi Raikkonen, both legends of Finnish motorsport. Inspired by the onsen spas Japanese, The idea was to build a hotel that combined nature with local design and tradition.

The Panorama Landscape Hotel consists of 10 individual suites, a spa in a natural forest and the Havu Kitchen and Bar, led by chef Kim Mustonen.

An important element of the project was sound, both acoustic and aesthetic. Local integrators Viking Pro They had previously worked in another restaurant for the Panorama team, and the new hotel was to follow in its footsteps.

“They wanted a Finnish audio brand that fit their philosophy of heritage and innovation”, explica Juha Jäppinen, co-owner of Viking Pro. “The speakers were going to be used in the suites, as well as in the restaurant, indoor spa areas, the meeting room, the lobby and bathrooms. We chose Genelec because the brand offers modern and attractive solutions. The RAW finish of the Smart IP models fit perfectly with the design of this installation”.

With views of the forest and Lake Syväri, The accommodation was designed by the Finnish architect Sami Rintala. I wanted to offer visitors a unique fragment of natural beauty, but also a place that had a “deeper effect on the mind, thought and general well-being”, reflecting in the open-air Forest Spa. Wood-burning saunas provide crackling heat as the snow falls outside, and the five pools provide total relaxation. The restaurant also offers a unique culinary experience through a combination of oriental modernity and Finnish forest flavors.

“in the restaurant, we installed six altavoces Smart IP 4430 in RAW aluminum finish with two studio subwoofers 7050 to deliver smooth low frequency performance”, aclara Jäppinen. “This reflects the Finnish fusion food and the broader design of the space. They are mainly responsible for the background music, but, if required, can connect to wireless microphones for meetings and announcements. Near the restaurant there is a meeting room that can be reserved for corporate events, and two models have been installed here 4430 more in black.

“For the spa lobby we chose two 4430 more in black, while the bathrooms and changing rooms are equipped with two speakers ultra compact RAW 4410. Each of the 10 suites also has its own Genelec system. Viking Pro opted for a weatherproof speaker solution for the outdoor pool and spa, with these and the Genelec models connected to a Dante audio interface of LD Systems, which acts as a network hub for the entire system. “Los smart IP speakers They are great to work with because everything is sent over a single CAT cable; “The audio, The power supply and management are very easy to install”, señala Jäppinen. “We also use the software Smart IP Manager to help with room setup and EQ”.

In addition to Smart IP Manager software, Viking Pro used the Smart IP public API to design a custom tablet to help control the system easily. Staff can access different areas via the tablet and instantly change volume levels or content if necessary.

“The Panorama hotel was an interesting project from an audio point of view because the design of the space guided the design of the system”, concluye Jäppinen. “Genelec is a local brand that is based on its tradition, which was important.
