Next Saturday the record for the largest screen in the world will be broken (43 x 18,3 metros) at a drive-in screening at Pinewood Studios using two Christie Roadster HD18Ks 3 chips DLP.
Next Saturday day 7 Christie will make history by participating in the screening that will break the record for the largest movie screen in the world. It will be at the drive-in theaters at Pinewood Studios (United Kingdom), where the film will be shown Mission Impossible on a screen 43 meters wide x 18,3 meters high. Until now, The two film screenings shown on the world's largest screens had taken place in Norway and Japan. In 1996, The projection was made in 70 mm from the movie Independence Day at Oslo Spektrum stadium in Sweden on a screen 40,24 meters wide. and in 2008, Japan's Tokyo Dome stadium hosted the premiere of the film Speed Racer on an IMAX screen 37 meters wide. However, Pinewood Studios aims to break current world record with outdoor screening of Mission: Impossible this Saturday 7 November. The projection will be carried out with two Christie Roadster HD18K three-chip DLP projectors that offer 18.000 ANSI lumens and true HD resolution (1920 x 1080). The screening will be managed by the company QED Productions.. Your director, Paul Wigfield, has admitted that “for QED it is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Christie's latest projection technology, the world leader in digital cinema. Mission Impossible is the perfect choice to beat the current world record, and it will look sensational”. Filmed at Pinewood Studios, Mission Impossible was inspired by the popular spy television series, creating Brian De Palma one of the highest-grossing thrillers.
