The European Parliament awards BT its videoconferencing and telepresence services
The European Parliament has awarded two contracts to the British provider BT, for a total amount of 120 million euros, covering everything from the supply of network equipment and applications to videoconferencing and telepresence systems.

The European Parliament has selected BT as your provider of networking services and professional IT services for a period of five years. Within the framework of the macro contract, which amounts to a total amount of 120 million, The British multinational will provide network services and professional IT services to the European body.
In fact, The macro contract is divided into two large contracts: the first focused on networking infrastructure and valued in 84 million; and a second, focused on professional and integration applications and services, worth 36 million. BT services will be offered at the three main venues of the European Parliament in Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg. The contracts address the needs of the European Parliament with respect to high-performance networked IT services in areas such as IP telephony, unified communications, video conferencing, telepresence, Internet access and security. They also cover the supply of network equipment and applications, including smart switches, broadband routers and multiplexers. BT will act as sole supplier to Parliament in the area of professional services such as systems integration, maintenance, training and reporting.
With these new contracts, BT strengthens its position in the global public sector market and with the institutions of the European Union (UE) in particular. BT already has an interinstitutional contract with the EU for WAN services (wide area network) and provides Internet access to multiple institutions, as well as high-level consulting through its professional services organization. BT is also one of the largest providers of networked IT solutions to the public sector in the UK..
According to a representative of the European Parliament; “BT brought together a powerful and competitive offer that really stood out from the rest. Their highly qualified integration experts and vendor-agnostic approach should enable us to implement all of our communications infrastructure and services in accordance with the RFP specifications.. This gives me confidence that I have chosen the right partner, that will help our organization to be more efficient and reduce costs”.
Luis Alvarez, President of BT Global Services for EMEA and Latin America, has assured: “I am very proud to announce these important contracts with the public sector. Our extensive portfolio of services and our capabilities to offer professional services were decisive in achieving these agreements. Our experience in consulting and systems integration is increasingly recognized in the industry. I would like to thank the European Parliament for trusting BT and we look forward to providing the highest quality services to this visionary institution.”.
