The Alicante Municipal Water company opens the universe of H2O through the rooms of the remodeled Water Museum located in the Pozos de Garrigós, a space that has been renovated with the aim of redistributing the contents to offer a more intuitive and guided visit through the signage of the rooms, as well as expand its informative and educational offer.

The mayor of Alicante, Sonia Castedo, and the general director of Aguas de Alicante, Asuncion Martinez, They have inaugurated the restoration works of the Water Museum. Some actions that seek to enhance the attractiveness of this cultural and educational field that, since its inauguration in February 2009, coinciding with the 110 anniversary of the constitution of Aguas de Alicante, has been visited by 42.000 personas.

The works, financed by the water supplier, They combine the work of more than 20 professionals, belonging to local suppliers, who have collaborated in the remodeling of this space to offer visitors a more attractive content distribution, that allows expanding the existing educational and informative offer.

In order to increase the quality of audiovisual projections, The windows of the Museum have been darkened with an opaque vinyl that on its exterior shows the new image of the M2A. Also, The interior of the Garrigós Wells has been illuminated by LEDs that create the effect of water bubbles, in which the visitor has the impression of immersing himself. The contents have been redistributed to offer a more intuitive and guided visit through the signage of the rooms. The Water Museum has three floors. The ground floor has been called the 'History of Water in Alicante'. It contains the origins and settlements of the first Alicante settlers., with the display of objects and tools from different periods that allow the visitor to learn about the evolution of techniques and uses of water through different cultures. A new space is added on this floor, designed in collaboration with the Department of the Environment, about the importance of wetlands in the province of Alicante. On the back wall of the room, an audiovisual projection by the artist Pep Bou visually reproduces the shapes that water acquires.: bubbles, flowers of the air, impossible waves…

'Have fun with water’ It is the name given to the first plant, which has been allocated entirely to educational resources with water as a base: interactive games, giant models, new technologies such as Augmented Reality, etc. A mural more than six meters high presides over the room. Through an illustration, Visitors can learn how water pipes run through the spaces of our homes. A movie theater has been set up on this floor., in which content suitable for different audiences will be projected, such as “Gotagotham”, “The paths of water” o “World water day”.

The second floor, 'Projects and Environment', explains to the visitor the technology and infrastructure of the new projects planned and carried out by Aguas de Alicante in the last three years: telelectura, Cowama, Sludge recovery, San Gabriel Anti-Pollution Depot, Inspection Truck… The environmental zone reflects content of respect and sustainability with the environment related to the integral water cycle., respect for existing purification areas and the green belt.
