Lincolnshire County Council (United Kingdom) has turned to Avigilon high-definition surveillance solutions to protect road maintenance equipment and ensure compliance with national safety standards.
Avigilon, developer of high definition video surveillance solutions (HD) and megapixel, has announced that Lincolnshire County Council in the United Kingdom has deployed its high-definition surveillance system to protect road maintenance equipment - valued at 12 million pounds- that are stored in eight warehouses and to ensure that employees follow mandatory safety protocols when doing their work.
Graham Dewsbury, Senior Technician at Lincolnshire County Council, has explained: “We look at several factors before choosing a surveillance solution such as performance, storage, the services, maintenance and cost. After reviewing the solutions offered by different providers, It was clear that Avigilon offered us the best value for money”.
Team manages Avigilon's high-definition surveillance solution using network video management software (NVMS) Avigilon Control Center with high-definition signal management technology (HDSM). The Council has installed an Avigilon HD camera 2 MP to monitor all activity in each warehouse. In controlled deposits, another Avigilon HD camera 2 MP has been installed in the reception area and is supervised by the warehouse manager. Avigilon's high-definition surveillance system is monitored during off-hours from the 'Out of Hours Highway Emergencies' office located at City Hall., while highway maintenance personnel monitor the system from their workstations during office hours. Lincolnshire County Council stores 28 days of continuous video surveillance on network video recorders (NVR) of Avigilon.
12 million pounds worth of equipment
Lincolnshire County Council can remotely monitor activity at its eight depots to safeguard its investment 12 millions of pounds of equipment and supplies. The Council can also ensure that employees are following proper procedures for loading salt into trucks to comply with road safety regulations and weight restriction requirements.. The Council has also integrated Avigilon's high definition surveillance system into its existing access control system to allow or deny entry remotely for greater security. Primarily used as a research tool, The Council uses the recorded video to resolve problems after the fact and can recover images of the last 28 days quickly and easily to properly resolve an incident.
Keith Marett, Avigilon Marketing and Communications Director, has commented: “As the fourth largest county in England, Lincolnshire is a vast rural area that is connected by more than 5.500 kilometers of road, so road maintenance – especially in icy conditions – represents a serious public safety problem. With its advanced management features and superior image clarity, Avigilon's high-definition surveillance system plays a key role in protecting the Council's road maintenance team, ensuring that staff have access to 24 hours a day to the tools needed to keep roads safe”.
