Manchester digital lab Love Labs has created an engaging, interactive window display that invites passers-by to explore their creative side by doodling on the window using their smartphones.. This is possible thanks to a drawing game called 'Doodlr'.

Love Labs, research department of the English agency Love, has carried out a fun digital activation on the streets of Manchester to experience the scope of interactive billboard technology and invite people to create their own doodle using a smartphone.

With the aim of exploring new possibilities in the field of retail, the agency has created Doodlr, a drawing game that uses Love's own platform. This digital doodle game has been created for smartphone users to play using 3G or Wi-Fi in the front window of the Manchester Digital Lab store.

Graeme Rutherford, digital creative strategist at Love, has explained: “Doodlr is based on our interactive platform, which we call 'Mo’ – a clever combination of Socket.IO and node.js that bridges the gap between smartphone web browsers and real-time multi-user experiences. Doodlr is our first idea built with Mo. We are now exploring how Mo can be used as a retail opportunity.. The fact that you don't need to download an app to interact really reduces barriers and provides an opportunity for brands to instantly engage and connect with their audience.”

The action has managed to attract more than 400 users whose drawings were shared on Flickr. Due to the great response obtained, Love has assured that in the coming months he will present Doodlr and Mo in many other places in Manchester.
