Opticomm expands its portfolio of video distribution products, audio and data

Opticomm, Emcore group company that manufactures and develops video streaming products, audio and data over fiber optics, has added new JPEG encoders/decoders to its product catalog 2000 for IP networks, HD matrices and screens, Optiva line extenders for DVI, audio, USB 2.0 over CATx and 3G HD-SDI/HD-SDI/SDI extender modules for video distribution, audio and data.

The new series of Opticomm offers a catalog of products to transport audio, video and data including the VXD-46 ‘Fiber to the Monitor’ high-definition display, FFTM’, supporting direct fiber connection, both multimode and singlemode, using LC or SC connectors.

FTTM solution has many advantages over standard copper cabling for HD video distribution: Direct fiber connection to the monitor without any other connection in between; Higher bandwidth for most multimedia applications; much less heavy, facilitating installation; no degradation in signal quality up to 80 km, while copper wiring presents degradation after a few meters; since the fiber is immune to electromagnetic and radio frequency interference, allows the best quality and greatest security possible for video signals to be transported without the information being affected by outside noise or “punctured” by radiated signals.
