The provider of high-performance network storage solutions, Infortrend, has incorporated WORM technology into its EonNAS family of storage systems, offering archiving solutions that comply with all legal regulations.

Infortrend has announced the integration of a new firmware integrated with the new WORM technology (Record once, Read several) already included in your EonNAS storage solutions. With the increasing importance of regulatory compliance in IT environments, WORM technology can play a very important role in allowing data to be preserved in a non-rewritable format., indelible and unalterable, complying with regulations and guaranteeing file integrity.

Some countries have defined strict file guidelines and their implementation is mandatory for government organizations, medical and financial. Organizations that flout these guidelines can be fined.. And this is where WORM technology appears. This can serve as a “corporate memory” containing a wide variety of data including images, videos, contracts, purchase orders, financial statements, invoices, emails and countless business documents that, once written and recorded, cannot be modified.

Companies where large amounts of data are constantly being recorded in real time in the field – such as those related to meteorology, oceanography and astronomy – can use WORM technology to protect recorded data from being overwritten and ensure it remains accessible for future analysis and reference. Besides, Media-intensive industries can archive their content without having to worry about recording over previous revisions.

Change data safely

By including WORM technology in the EonNAS line, There is a big change for the company and its customers. Storage systems now offer tangible benefits at both the IT and business levels. While large companies may have a detailed compliance strategy in their facilities, SMEs and SOHO, They tend to have less sophisticated resources. By integrating WORM technology into storage solutions, Infortrend eliminates the worry of the risk of modifying data contrary to legal regulations.

Thomas Kao, Senior Director of Product Development at Infortrend, has stated: “Infortrend is very dedicated to enterprise data storage. At the moment, One of the biggest challenges we are seeing is the retention of fixed content data for legal compliance reasons.. We have decided to integrate WORM technology into our NAS systems to help businesses better safeguard their most important and vital data., at the same time that we offer them functionality in the storage system worthy of large companies. We will continue to research and develop new technologies that can be added to our EonNAS to ensure SMEs and SOHOs that their essential business data is well stored., managed and comply with all regulations”.

New Embedded WORM Technology Firmware Now Available for EonNAS1000 and EonNAS Pro Families. The rest of the ranges will include it throughout 2012.
